  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Have you ever made a fashion or clothing "mistake?" Worn something that you wished you hadn't.

I was reading the memoir book 'Cherry' and the author describes a time when she went out on her bicycle around the neighborhood without a shirt. She wasn't sure if she was too old to be doing so, and by the time she got home she was overwhelmed with embarrassment.

Have you ever had an experience where you wore something in public, and it was too late to change after realizing it was not your ideal outfit for the moment.

This thread gives me painful flashbacks. I can't even count how many times I was called a "freak" because of the way I was dressed when I was a kid.

It was partly my parents' fault, and partly my fault.

My mom was vehemently opposed to girls wearing jeans, so jeans were out of the question for me. And my dad was a bit of a miser, who believed that buying brand new clothes was wasting money when you could instead shop at thrift stores. And back in the 80's, thrift stores didn't seem to have the variety that today's thrift stores have.

And I was a quiet, introverted kid who didn't pay much attention to fashion anyway. I always had my nose in a book. So most of the time I didn't even notice what other people were wearing, or how what I was wearing differed from what they were wearing. Not until others pointed it out, anyway.

I think the worst thing I ever wore was a dress that looked like an old-fashioned, traditional German costume. It laced up the front and had a long skirt. It was cute, but it was a costume, not a dress meant to be worn to school. The worst thing was, I was 13 and in junior high when I wore it. I remember one of the cool girls said, "I like your dress," and then laughed, and it was a couple years later before I even realized she was being sarcastic.

I wish my parents had homeschooled me. I understand that they had different ideas and standards than most parents, but to impose those standards upon me and then send me to regular public school where I would stick out like a sore thumb wasn't very kind.

I remember when I was in grade school...very young...and jumpsuits were in style. ( a one piece outfit )...anyway, when I went to the bathroom, I had undone the top part and sat on the commode not knowing my armsleeve had fallen in!!! You can imagine my horror when I stood up:eek: :o Luckily it was during a class and it wasn't crowded or anything and the nurses office was right across the hall. she picked out some clothes they had in the lost-n-found box to wear home. I was a walker so I got to go home early. That never happened again.:D
