No experience with glucophage/Metformin, but I have taken Clomid, and am currently back on it. We TTC'ed for six months for our first child before I saw a doctor. I had been charting and knew that I wasn't ovulating regularly, so she gave me Clomid to regulate it, and three cycles later, I was pregnant. Now that we're trying for another, I saw the doctor again after four cycles when nothing had happened, and had a new prescription written. I'm praying that it works as quickly this time. I've heard horror stories about awful side effects (hot flashes, mood swings) but have been fortunate enough to escape side effects of Clomid altogether.

I only know of one person who has been on Metformin - a good online friend who had struggled with infertility for more than a year. She became pregnant on her second cycle of Metformin. :)

I've been on Clomid since last October. 50mg. We didn't realize until a few months ago that I still wasn't ovulating. Instead of upping the Clomid, I am taking steroids and last cycle was my first ovulator cycle!

I have no side affects to the Clomid, as far as I know. I know there is risk it taking Clomid for so long and am seeking out other options. I am planning on having laproscopy next cycle (should this one not work) to see if I have endometriosis.

My sister was offered Clomid after she hadn't got pregnent after 2 years (she already had 1 child). She was ovulating properly but nothing was happening. She didn't take it as she didn't like the side affects so instead she went to see a homeopathic doctor who put her on a no - yeast diet. she fell pregnant within 1 month. I would always try that before drugs as sometimes regular GP's won't look at things like diet - a high percentage of woman who are on meds for conceiving don't need to be on them but need to re-assess their diet.
Obviously there are still alot of women who do need the meds
