  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Chapter XXV
Of the Church

VI. There is no other head of the church but the Lord Jesus Christ. Nor can the pope of Rome, in any sense, be head thereof: but is that Antichrist, that man of sin, and son of perdition, that exalteth himself, in the Church, against Christ and all that is called God.

Chapter XXV
Of the Church

VI. There is no other head of the church but the Lord Jesus Christ. Nor can the pope of Rome, in any sense, be head thereof.

or look at Hodge's commentary on the WCF at:
http://www.rtrc.net/documents/wcf/hodge/wcfaah25.htm

where he uses the old form:
SECTION VI. There is no other head of the church but the Lord Jesus Christ.[13] Nor can the pope of Rome, in any sense, be head thereof;[14] but is that Antichrist, that man of sin, and son of perdition, that exalts himself, in the Church, against Christ and all that is called God.
but is rather mild in his commentary. Most of the rabid anti-Catholicism is no longer part of the cultural context of the conservative Reformed churches as it was in the 19thC. However rebaptism of RCC is routinely practiced and for most Reformed going to a mass would be idoltry.
As far as the common interpretation of the beast,
running google on something like:
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&q=beast+revelation+catholic+church+&btnG=Search
hits 50K websites, most of which are protestants continuing the alignment of the Papacy with the Beast that first reached prominence in the Reformation. But if you look they are not primarily any one group of denominations but rather a cross section of the more literal interpretation groups.
