Let's talk about classics, on any system.

BTW, has ayone played Commander Keen, Crystal Caves, they were old Dos platformers by ID Software.

YESS!! Apogee, in my opinion, had quite a spectrum of games. I really loved Commander Keen. Crystal Caves I actually could have done without. But hey, could I complain with a good old 8088? ...Eh, actually, the 80286 is what we played most of those old games on. But yes... very good memories with those. Great topic!

So who here has played the old SIERRA games? King's Quest, Quest for Glory, Space Quest, Police Quest? The Black Cauldron? How about ZZT??

King's Quest - Yes for 1-7
Police Quest - No
Police Quest - Yes for 1-SWAT 3 (which is technically in the same series)
Black Cauldron- No
ZZT - Yes

Anyway, how far back to we have to go for things to be classic? I would think that the Phantasy Star series would be far back enough (esp. 1), and would ask (in honor of my new avatar) whether there are any fans of Phantasy Star 1-4 about.

I loved Crystal Caves.

I think Super Mario World is old enough, and certainly grand enough to be granted classic-dom.

What kind of a time frame should we use to determine classics? 5 years? 10 years?
