Been going through some of my collection and I came across some stuff I haven't heard in a long time.
Red Sea (1994) - Probably one of the few bands out of the early 90s that deserve a solid 5 star rating. The singer has got an awesome voice. If you compared them to secular bands to get a feel of what they sound like, I'd say a mix of Led Zepplin and Whitesnake.
Fear Not (1993) - Great solid metal. One thing that plagued early Christian metal bands were singers over extending their voices. Useless screams and high tones that would just destroy excellent guitar licks and solid drum beats. This band is a good example of musicians who learned from those mistakes.
Recon (1990) - This is one of those bands that had great potential but just never stuck around long enough to evolve. The singer had one of those voices that sounded fantastic when it wasn't screaming. The music is solid but like I said it needed growth.
Rage of Angels (1989) - This band took the Christian rock music scene by surprise with it's debut release. Here was a group that had everything that the secular bands had but with Christian lyrics. The group was later rejected by the then mostly conservative Christian rocker community, largely because most of the members of the band weren't Christians. Heaven's Metal broke the story in an interview, "Angels Gone Bad? A Talk With Raging Angel Dan Mariano." Heaven's Metal issue #21.
Blood n Fire (1999) - A good band musically and lyrically with some pretty catchy guitar licks.
