It IS so much fun! I'm actually in a university program for theatre. But I'm not one of snobs that looks down at community theatre. In fact, I love community theatre! (sorry, force of habit!) Esspecially being in it. Not that you are community theatre, you could be a professional. But anyways. erm. I forgot my point...I'm still so blown away by Cirque yesterday.

Oh right, I just meant to say that while it may not agree with your tastes (used in a genral term) the work and precision is still top-notch. And to give some credit to the backstage crew! Wow! Those spot ops were right-on the whole time! And the people loading the fly girder things! (yes, I am that horrible audience member that always looks exactly were she is not supposed to look so I catch the wonderful crew at work!)

Yah know, another thing I observed was that while everyone was in peak physical condition, there were different body types. In many sport-related performing arts (ie, skating, ballet), they seek the "ideal" body type...ie, I think in dancing right now it's shortish, but lanky and with a short torso and very long legs. At Cirque, there was such a variety! How refreshing!

:sigh: I sound like such a theatre freak... yay me!

Yep, community theatre rocks:clap: ! Some people don't like it, but I think many of the true creative people are in community theatre, doing it because they love it, not for the money. Not that there aren't really creative people in prof. theatre, too. Because there are.

See, that's where I don't agree!:) While, yes, many good people in professional theatre, I also know sooo many people who are very talented at theatre, and yet choose more "practical" careers in social work, teaching and nursing, as lawyers, and so much more! That's why community theatre exists...and can actually be very good!

It is much more breath taking seing a production of cirque du soiel live than it is on DVD.
In 1999 I went and sure Mystere in las Vegas. arrived in Port Dixie Downtown Disney at the closing time of "O". Saw the production of Alergria in Sydney, It was a great show but the tent at the time was stuffy. at the moment we have Quidam showing.

They've got a permanent Cirque Du Soleil theatre here. i've yet to check it out though since we've only been here a few months. I do have plans to go though. It'll be an accomplishment if it tops Pilobolus though.

I saw La Nouba in Florida as well, and have seen Quidam, Alegria, Dralion, Nouvelle Experience, Saltimbanco and the very first show simply titled "cirque du Soleil" on video.

Honestly, everything seemed bigger and more impressive on DVD! eeek. I was surprised by how small and seemingly low-key La Nouba was.

My personal favorite show is Quidam, but Alegria's a close second-place!

I would love to sing for them *sigh* :crossrc:

Has anyone else seen the movie based on Alegria? (not the show taped on stage, but there's an actual film...anyone know what I'm talking about?)
