My son is not circumsized. After reading about it, I found that is was more dangerous than helpful. And we are not Jewish, so I really don't see the point.
We're not Jewish either(no Jewish on either side)...however its not about religion...its about what a parent believes is right for their child....
As I said before we did our children and I dont regret it...I looked at both sides and decided to go for it as it was the right thing for us and it was something I believed in and still do...however that said I know others who disagree with me and that is their choice, again nothing to do with Religion at all...now adays its a personal Choice that us Parents make...either for or against...
What I get upset with is others making one feel horrible for their choice as a parent (whatever way they go)...
Im sorry but I remember being a new mom and hearing it all...and it was always someone telling you that "Your wrong, your raising your kids wrong...do this , do that..." Well Ive learned to go by my own judgement...NOT others...so OddBeani...do whats right for you...Get it done or dont get it done...dont do something because you feel pressured...and once done dont ever look down on your own choice as your the parent and the choice YOU make is the right one (your the mom)!! Good luck

But to GreenOrchid, it may be proper only for religious or medically necessary reasons. Just because she made that statement does not mean your choices aren't valid for you. At least, I don't think you needed to qualify your choices after reading her commentary.

Also, when you say 'don't ever look down on your own choice' are you saying that a parent shouldn't reflect on the decisions made and possibly be uneasy about how (s)he handled a situations?

Yes but the OP was asking about opinions on Circ's without religion...so I dont understand why some are putting religion into it?? Sorry :sorry:
And yes I did say to some they disagree and that is the best choice for them as a parent...and I know those who have made that choice...very few need it medically...however when it is needed in later life it does hurt a man and the man remembers the pain...my son's dont...but that is besides the point...

Yes as a parent one does reflect on decisions, but with decsions such as this one can reflect on them forever and then beat themselves up wondering if what they did was right or wrong...

"Should I have gotten him Circumsized?"
"Should I have left it alone..? Was I wrong to Circ him?"

Once the decision has been made, then its best not to second guess ones self and not let others bring one down making one feel like a horrible parent (Ive made that mistake and sometimes still do).

Im not saying to Circ or not to Circ...Im saying not to let others make one feel horrible for the choice she makes as a parent...
Im happy that we Circ and I know others who made the decision not to and it happened to be the best for them and nothing bad came from it either...:)

Again...sorry...just my thoughts...
