Circumcision

I found this and thought it was interesting. The difference in the chance of getting a UTI between intact and circumcised is not that significant. I do not want this to be misunderstood by those that choose to circumcise. We all have to do what we feel is right for us and for our children. It got me thinking, and this is one of the websites that I found. If it helps one person, then that is enough.

Don't know which doctors you go to addicted (or what you've heard), but in Australia, when you go for the pill, they HAVE to tell you how it functions.

Everyone I know who prescribe it see it as their duty of care to tell you about the three ways it works, and do so.

I just get surprised when I get on here and see 'doctors never tell you about the third step of stopping implantation', cos that hasn't been my experience - more the opposite!

Sasch, I have to admit that the nurse never told me how artificial bc functions when I went on it. It was through our own research that we learned that. It does seem extremely odd that they wouldn't be required to tell their patients that kind of information.

Doctors around here have a tendancy to be very vaque about birth control and such and the doctors in women's clinics are worse. Techinically they all HAVE to tell us how it functions but it is an area where there is little accountability. There are abortion providers that still get away with performing abortions (medical and sugical) without perfoming an unltrasound first. Many clinics are giving out the Morning After Pill (indicated for use up to 72 hours after sex) as far as a week after sex. Trust me I have learned a lot in this job!

In no way am I agreeing with abortion here, I am anti abortion, but I am curious about this.

My husband and I argued about this one for a long time after we found out we were having a boy. He was pro-circ, and I was anti-circ. I finally gave in, but regretted it later. Following the circumcision, our baby had excessive bleeding. The Doc kept cauterizing the wound, but it kept bursting open and bleeding, more. He finally got it stopped, but our baby (now 5 years old) had to fight infection following surgery, and now has a big hole left in his remaining foreskin becuase the wound didn't heal properly.

My friend was just telling me aobut a new procedure where they simply cut off the circulation to the foreskin and it just falls off painlesslyin a few days. If we ever have another baby-I MIGHT consider this one, but I don't want to go through another nightmare like our first experience.

Both my boys were done using this method. It is some "bell" method or something. They place this plastic thingy over and pull the forsking through it. It does fall off after about a week. Neither of my boys had any problems with it at all.

To be sure that there is a viable uterine pregnancy. A pregnancy could be clearly non viable meaning that it is going to end in a miscarriage (and there are a couple other things to that get techinical) or a pregnancy could be ectopic (outside the uterus). If a pregnancy is non viable, nature should just be allowed to take it's course so to speak. If a pregnancy is eptopic, other avenues need to be pursued. Imagine if someone performed an abortion without performing an ultrasound on a woman with an ectopic pregnancy. The abortion focuses on her usterus and there is nothing IN her uterus. So not only does this open her up to more danger during the actual abortion, she's still pregnant and the pregnancy could be dangerous to her. If she was still not aware that she had an ectopic pregnancy her fallopian tube could rupture causing internal bleeding and infertitily. Also an ultrasound more accurately determines how far along someone is than just trusting the day they said their last menstral period was.

I didn't circumcise my son. The main reason being that my DH is not circumsized. I did alot of research on the subject and decided that I didn't want to put my son through any type of extra pain, nor did I want him to be different from his dad. My son has never had any of the infections that they say they might get if not circumsized. Come to think of it, my DH has never had any type of infection. I'm very, very happy with my decision!

Besides, my DH feels very strongly that the extra skin gives him extra room to grow. LOL

Yes it is. We rarely use any moral approach in talking about abortion here. usually the facts are enough. ANd for those who the facts aren't enoguh for, they aren't swayed by morailty.

A diabetic told me that foreskins from circumcised babies are commonly used in diabetic skin grafts.

Severe diabetics can get wounds on their feet which have difficulty healing. Sometimes they have toes removed.

Foreskins are the perfect size and consistency for skin grafts on diabetic toes.

Is this a good reason to continue the practice of circumcision? Well, no, but rest assured that the foreskins are being put to good use in the healing arts

See I have a slight problem wit this here.... sorta probaly gonna sound silly buuuuttt.... I have to pay to have my son surgically altered.... then they take my sons body part... stick it on someone else an they've gotta pay for it to...... mmmmmm I'm jes not alright wit that one hehe I'd also be slightly worried bout possible repercussions of this... this ones a bit far fetched I grant you, but it could become mandated that we are required to do so jes for the harvestin of foreskins... granted I give you it's a bit far fetched, but I also believe it's somewhat dangerously possible... it's not like the doc's here will tell you what's gonna happen wit the foreskin an I'd imagine most folks thought it would simply be discarded when it's actually harvested. On a side note, I'd be curious what that'd do to the whole dna of a person etc, havta look that one up a bit.

I'm still very much against havin folks circ' for the the sake of havin it done and since it's no longer required by God I see no reason to have it done aside from the extrems of course, injury or medical problem, massive infection etc but I think folks can be a bit to lazy to mess what is required to havta take care an teach how to take care of a circ child. Jes whack it off an be done wit it. To me it's sorta sad to see done this way.
