  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I live out in the country now, and the summer after my family moved here, we had a cicada infestation. There must have been hundreds crawling out of the ground all summer. We still have the holes in our lawn from where the dug themselves out of. That was three years ago.

I like how they sound and look, as long as they don't fly at me. there are only a few in the dallas area.

The periodic cicadas spend most of their lives as underground nymphs, emerging only after 13 or 17 years, which may reduce losses by starving their predators and eventually emerging in huge numbers that overwhelm and satiate any remaining predators. The annual cicadas are species that emerge every year.

do they taste good? cause I wanna puke just looking at them. I decided they taste bad during my childhood when my dog (ginger), who would literally eat her own blanket, tried and failed to eat one.

It freaked me out so bad last night that I called out to Jesus to make it stop. He didn't.

I'm not joking either.

They really bother me. I grew up hearing them, and it didn't bother me until recently. I think it's just been so loud lately and there have been so many of them. It's getting to me.

I used to live in Texas and heard that sound very often, especially in the evening in the summer. I kinda miss it (I know I'm weird :D )
One year we didn't get them , so I know how you feel.Rather than being aggravated by the noise, I miss them when I don't hear their song.

Swords&Sunflowers, how cute!

I went outside again last night and I heard them, but it didn't bother me this time. They were farther away and it wasn't as loud. I think I had just gotten overwhelmed by the volume and continuity of it.
