One year we didn't get them , so I know how you feel.Rather than being aggravated by the noise, I miss them when I don't hear their song.I used to live in Texas and heard that sound very often, especially in the evening in the summer. I kinda miss it (I know I'm weird)
. I Suppose it’s no worse than eating lobster or crab which are also arthropodsI like how they sound and look, as long as they don't fly at me. there are only a few in the dallas area.

~~~
The periodic cicadas spend most of their lives as underground nymphs, emerging only after 13 or 17 years, which may reduce losses by starving their predators and eventually emerging in huge numbers that overwhelm and satiate any remaining predators. The annual cicadas are species that emerge every year.
do they taste good? cause I wanna puke just looking at them. I decided they taste bad during my childhood when my dog (ginger), who would literally eat her own blanket, tried and failed to eat one.
