Appearance: Ciara is a very petite woman, though not fragile or skinny. She may be fifty-three years old, but she doesn't look it. In fact, she barely looks as though she's forty-five, with only a few wrinkles around her eyes and mouth and a couple on her forehead that only stand out when she's frowning deeply. Her short white-blonde hair hangs just below her jawline and barely has a hint of gray, though one probably wouldn't be able to see it anyways considering the color of her hair. She wears it straight, without any ties or clips, simply hanging loosely. Her eyes are a light gray with a hint of blue in certain lights, and her skin is quite fair as she prefers to stay indoors and doesn't get much sunlight.
She wears light and flowing dresses in pastel colors, giving her an almost ethereal presence as she seems to float when she walks. Her jewelry varies from day to day, but she can always be counted on to be wearing at least one necklace (usually a large pendant of some sort or a gemstone), and will most likely be wearing rings on most of her fingers, some quite large and gaudy while others are only thin bands with small stones. While there may not seem any pattern to which rings or necklaces she wears each day, there is a system to them, one that only she knows, along with her son, as she raised him. Depending on her mood or what she wants to accomplish that day, she wears different sets and combinations of jewelry, never wearing anything on her ankles, but sometimes on her ears and wrists in addition to her neck and fingers.
Personality: Ciara is somewhat of an enigma to most people. Most of the time she is the epitome of a noblewoman. Calm, collected, serene, yet possessing that inner confidence that inspires obedience at her lightest touch or softest glance. Though technically she is not of noble birth, she did marry into one of Brynne's wealthier families and was subsequently exposed to the upper classes, giving her that certain air. She can be very soft spoken and pleasant in most circumstances, patient and understanding. However, most of this is an illusion. Ciara is a master manipulator and uses her ability frequently, her voice and disposition perfectly controlled to produce the desired result. Though her intentions in doing so are for good, she tends to be somewhat selfish in her logic behind her manipulations. Though she's quite successful at coming up with many other reasons for people to do what she wants besides ones that will paint her in a selfish light. She is also prone to emotional and sometimes violent outbursts, though usually not when people are around to hear or see.
Background: Ciara was born to middle-class parents who worked a small farm outside of Brynne. When Ciara was eighteen, she married Ahmed Vassar, a wealthy man of Arab descent who owned most of the vineyards on the rolling hills east of Brynne. He was quite well-off, his winery offering some of the best wine and spirits in Rhytium. She adjusted well to her new life as the wife of a wealthy man, rubbing elbows with nobles and other high society people of Brynne. She was also very influential with said people and her ideas and advice, when taken, would usually turn out successfully for those who took it, gaining her somewhat of a name within the community as a wise woman. She gave birth to her son, Ethan, when she was twenty-three years old and, for a time, disappeared from the high-society life to raise her son in his younger years. As he got older, however, she returned and actually became involved in her husband's business, turning it an even bigger profit as it turned out she was quite a businesswoman as well.
When she was thirty-five, her husband tragically passed away in a hunting accident, leaving her in charge of his business and estate and to raise her twelve-year-old son. Her husband's death hit her quite hard, however, and she was never the same. While she still had an uncanny business sense, her heart was no longer into running the winery as it had been her husband's life and she found she didn't want to do it without him. So, Ciara sold the winery in Brynne and, for some time, she and Ethan traveled around Rhytium, living off the money they got from the sale of the business. But after two years of living this way, the money began to run out, and Ciara feared for her life and the life of her son. She tried to find work, but she didn't have many skills that would make a profitable trade and eventually mother and son lived on the streets in Floresco, nearing starvation. At her lowest point, Ciara was visited by a strange man in a black cloak, his voice conveying a sense of calm and peace, though with an air of authority that sent chills down the woman's spine. He assured her that he would save her and her son from certain starvation, if she would do something for him in return. He made her agree before he told her what it was. When she did agree, he told her that his request in return would not come for many years, but wherever she found herself from here on out would be exactly where he planned and she wasn't to question if opportunities came her way. And then he was gone.
Two days later, an old friend of Ahmed's, Count Locien Errol, had need of someone who was wise in her decisions and had good business sense to help run his estate and the surrounding land he and his family oversaw. He had heard of the good things she had done in Brynne and for her husband's business before selling it and asked her to come work for him. So, Ciara moved to Ashton Valley with her teenage son, where they lived at Count Errol's estate.
Ciara continued to be Count Errol's advisor for many years, long after Ethan had grown and sought out his own life. And, because of her influence and advice, Count Errol's small community and especially his own enterprises, prospered. But when Count Errol was thrown from his horse and was killed, there didn't seem to be anywhere for Ciara to go. Until Count Errol's daughter, Irelin Siledur, Governess of Brynne, offered her a position as high advisor. She accepted and moved back to Brynne, this time staying in the mansion with the Governess, where she continues to live at present, fulfilling her duty to the cloaked man who came to her and saved her life all those years ago.
