Our church is currently writing a "vision" statement.
We have got to a point where we saying that the vision is "transforming lives"
But.. some of our elders want to add numbers and goals
e.g in 5 years time we will be double the size, see x number of conversations etc.
They are also looking at other churches, and not ours.
It got me thinking, is there really any Bibical basis of strargy planning.
Think of Moses, he knew where he was going, but God revealed the detail bit by bit,
Think of David, he counted and had the census - that is when it all went wrong
Think of the apostles - again they were to go into all the world, (Great Commission) but we do not read of a detailed plan, just listening to the Spirit but by bit,
The only case I could find is Nehemiah?!
So, what Biblical evidence is there for the modern idea of stragy and goal setting?
