Hey I was wondering if anyone could give me any help about choosing the right church to go to. I know that of course praying is the first thing I should do, but do you have any other advice on choosing? Because I need to find a new church and pick the right christian club on campus.

CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

There are probably many good churches that you could go to. And there are probably many good Christian clubs that you could join. I would suggest attending a few different churches before settling on just one. Make sure that what the church teaches matches with Scripture. That's probably the biggest consideration. Beyond that, you'll probably want to consider whether the worship style matches with what you are comfortable with, and think about practical stuff like how far away the church is, what time services are at, and what sort of other programs the church offers. The same thing would go for Christian clubs.

Also, check out how many others in the church are around your age, are in the same stage in life as you, etc. Although great fellowship can be had with all kinds of different people, it helps to be around people that you can relate to and form friendships with.
