  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What would happen if your church announced it would be closing? Would people in your community read an article in the newspaper and say, “That’s interesting. I wonder who will buy it?” or would they say, “No! It can’t be true! They’ve done so much for this community. What will we do without them?”

What are we doing for the people in our own backyards? Do people that live within a mile radius of our church buildings know what we’re about? Have we made even the first step in trying to include them in our family? Are there hearts that are open to the good news of Jesus that are within walking distance of where we park our cars on Sunday morning?

So much time, effort and money is put into overseas missions and faraway places. That’s wonderful. We should continue and expand those ministries. But are we putting the same time, effort and money into reaching the people that have the easiest access to what we’re teaching?

"Which of these three do you think was a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of robbers?" The expert in the law replied, "The one who had mercy on him." Jesus told him, "Go and do likewise." - Luke 10:36-37
