  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Depends on how you say them if you ask me.

Actually, there's no way "chunker" would ever fly. But there's certain female friends of mine I can call "chick" and others I can't, it's situational.

I never use the word Broad because I'm not from the 1920's. If I wa though, I'd say "dame" :) Back in marching band though a couple of us would play "Give My Regards To Broadway" when the homecoming court came onto the football field.

side note. I've also learned that you should never refer to a woman as being pregnant unless you can actually SEE THE BABY COMING OUT. Any other time ad you've called her "fat".

I think "chunker" is disrecptful of the person. Many people are very self conscious about their weight, and calling them chunker, even behind their backs, is disrespectful.

I could handle chick better than broad. But to refer to all women in general as chicks, I don't know, just doesn't seem right.

What's wrong with calling them females or ladies or women?

Depends on the audience. Mix audience "Chunker" might not fly. You might want to add "skirt" to your list too. It would be interesting to hear from the females what type of slang name they give males? How about it gals?

Um... guys? I dunno. We women don't tend to need cool nicknames for everyone. I would probably glare deeply at someone who called me "chunker." Are there really people so out of the loops that they even would. Also broad would get a bit of a look too. Skirt? No. Chic isn't so bad but it would depend on how someone would say it. It can be used affectionately or offensively. I fail to understand however why men can't just call us ladies or women.

I have a name for particular guys that I use that have made me extremely angry. However, if I shared it here, part of it would be starred out! ;)

I guess I usually use "guy".

Granted all this is my opinion, so take it for what its worth, using "chic" isn't bad (I have even used this word myself when talking or referring to other women).

Umm, this is the first time I've heard the word "chunker" before but just from reading the opinions of other posters, I probably wouldn't use it anyway.

Broad sounds like a term that no man under the age of 60 should even know. lol

Skirt? I have only heard this used in an offensive manner (similiar to how you would use the word the rhymes with snitch).

When reffering to guys, I either say "that guy", "this man" or if he's ticked me off "that boy". lol

Hey, 'girl' flies better with me than any of the rest. And guys? ... well, they're just guys. ;)

I'm assuming that 'chunker' must be regional slang. If you called a woman around here that, she'd assume that you were calling her fat and would likely be extremely offended. 'Chick' and 'broad' would probably offend a lot of women too. Some may be ok with it, but others would be offended. As others have said, just play it safe and call women 'women', 'ladies', 'girls', or 'females'. Those are all perfectly good English words. If they sound strange to you, then you're obviously using too much slang ;)

"Chic(k)" has become acceptable to some extent, but broad is way over the edge. As for 'chunker,' I haven't heard that one before.
