I completely forgot about them until I saw this thread!

They are a part of Americana as a classic of their gospel style. I used to listen to them as a kid.
"On the Jericho Road la la la" :)
That kind of music is a guilty pleasure of mine-all of the gospel quartet stuff. They did a lot of traditional hymns and some of the more lively, bouncy stuff that one usually associates with southern gospel/country genre.

I went to an all-night camp meetin' of gospel music while in high school. Fun! I would still do that today if such a thing existed.

Hi. The Chuckwagon Gang is still here, and they're still singing! The Gang was started by my great-grandfather D.P. Carter, my grandmother Anna C. Davis, a great-aunt Rose Karnes, and a great-uncle Ernest Carter, in 1936. All of these four originals have passed away, the most recent being my grandmother Anna, who passed away last Friday, March 5 2004, at age 87. The group now consists of both of my sisters singing the alto and soprano parts and two non-family members singing the bass and tenor parts. They have a website, but I can't list it here for some reason. It's "www dot the chuckwagon gang dot com". The pictures of the group aren't all the current members, though. Anyway, hope this helps you. By the way, I just joined the forum, if you're wondering why I'm responding now to a question you posted last year............ :)

Well, Land 'a Goshen! My husband and I play tapes that I switched from old records. Haven't heard of anybody else talking about the Chuckwagon Gang in years. I am so pleased to read this post from you. I am going to call my husband right now to read your delightful message. Thank you !!! We'll go to your website. :)

I have seen the Chuckwagon Gang in concert three times in the past year. They were great. I have bought some of their CDs and enjoy them very much. They have always been very nice and friendly. I listened to the original group when I was a child. I am very glad the music of the Chuckwagon Gang is being carried on. They are still the best. I have their website book marked, but it seems to be down. I hope they get it back online soon.
