what's hostile & ugly about that, it's wonderful & right!

It is a gross distortion and untrue. (If it was not so malicious it would be very funny, but the source means to do harm and throw more bombs.)

I know those people. I'm in their presbytery, and these things are false. Wilkins is a Calvinist (all five points as is everyone else in that group). They can be accused of hyper covenantalism, but not works righteousness.

I've read a good deal on the matter. I've spoken with very hostile opponents of Wilkins and avid supporters. I think the shouting has gotten so loud that neither side can hear the other and when they do and what they hear is not what they expected susbect that the other side is hedging on the truth.

Louisiana Presbytery just cleared Wilkins and one of the men how did so was very, very opposed to the Auburn Ave. stuff. He expected to fine heresy, but while not agreeing he had to say heresy was not there.

In Christ,
Kenith

i didn't know it was a real church, i thought the whole thing was satire. i enjoyed it immensely based on that premise.

I agree it is great satire. I wish it were only that.

I too had to laugh, but knowing the context and being friends with some on both sides of the divide mahes it is really sad. Knowin the work of Robbins makes it malicious

I am sorry. I meant no harm. I know that Robbins can be harsh and in many instances, I appreciate his harshness as he calls it like he sees it.

On the other hand, I know that he must have an axe to grind against certain folks in your Presbytery. So, with that recognition, I am sorry that I presented the post as humor.

Fine line, I will admit.

There is no reason to be sorry. It is a funny sight. I too had to laugh, I just know how Robbins is. I am not offended, but I did want to put Robbins humor in a context.

In these controversies there are usually one or two guys on each side that care nothing for working biblically to fix the problem. They like to throw salt in the wounds and listen to people howl. If found Robbins to be that sort of fellow. There are some on the other side that act the same way.

Had I seen the songs, and not been close to the eye of the storm, I too would have posted it.

Thanks for your Christian attitude. I do appreciate it very much.

In Christ,
Kenith

Thanks!! BTW: I love your letter to the Corinthians.

The Lord bless you and all your house as well,

Wish I could take credit....those dastardly Corinthians....they could never get anything right! :)

Oh yeah, and what do you think of the bishop of Rome today? :p

He is better than many. Boniface VIII and ALEXANDER VI are two of my least favourite popes. Boniface because of the Unam Sanctum stuff :sigh: and Alexander because he was a really bad dude.

All in all things could be worse.

Well, frankly, I am indifferent. Not being a Catholic myself, I really don't care who is running their show.

If he is as faithful as Clement of Rome (3rd or 4th Bishop of Rome) he will be a good and faithful and godly leader.

My "handle," CofR, was selected due to the fact that I wrote my dissertation on 1 Clement.
