  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Should we celebrate Christmas? I mean many people go on and on about Halloween and Harry Potter is paganistic and everything. And we say that Sunday was originally a Pagan day and everything so should we celebrate Christmas? It has paganistic origins and if i remeber correctly it had to do with the sun. I guess we could also say the same thing about easter since originally it was a fertillity holiday.

There's certainly nothing wrong with celebrating the birth of Christ and the spirit of Christmas is a neat thing to feel and to experience. I think we need to be careful though just how much we get involved with all the comercialism of this holiday. Also we need to remember that the 25th of December is not the day Christ was born but a pagan ritualistic holiday. This is the day when they (pagan priest) in the ancient past sacrificed a virgin to the sun in honor of the day's length increasing. The burning heart is a symbol of this ceremony. Right after they pulled the still beating heart out of the virgin they would hold it up to the sun then they would burn it.

This holiday is a point of contention for some Adventists, i.e. some celebrate it some don't.
