  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Christmas! Not to early to think about this!

Christmas is my favorite time of the year...Christmas lights on the roads, buildings, house gardens, streets...Christmas lanterns, Christmas carols, Christmas concerts in churches, Christmas Youth Camp (back in the Philippines), a time of reunions of family, friends...parties, gift-giving!

This will be my first ever Christmas far away from home....and no family member to celebrate with. I may be celebrating it with some new-found friends here in South Australia.

And yes, Christmas is early here! We just had a Christmas Pageant hosted by Credit Union. I just felt the Christmas spirit in the air all throughout the morning parade! I was wondering why have the parade this early? Well, coz, summer is fast approaching and I reckon it would be too hot by Christmas time.

This will also be my first Christmas in hot weather. Back in the Philippines, we only have 16-20 deg C during this time of the year. But here in SA, it's 27-35 deg C!

As my first Christmas in another country, without family and long-kept friends, I aim to experience how this culture celebrates it and make it the most enojyable overseas Christmas I will have so far!

Enjoy your new Christmas experiences.

I have spent many a Christmas in hot weather! It is not so bad - no ice to slip on, no snow to shovel and one can go for a swim on Christmas Day! However, in the Philippines you probably don’t get ice and snow anyhow.

Enjoy!
