  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hey, I was just hoping the title would catch some attention, but there is SO much discord in the IDD I have to refrain from posting when I most want to. But yes, enough rant, I think we can all get the point of this post. Anyways, prayer is awesome! Lets get together and make it happen!

We pray to you, our Lord Jesus Christ, for the healing of Your Body, the Church. And that our Protestant and Orthodox brethren will be re-united with us in the Holy Catholic Church. We hope and pray for the fulfillment of Your own prayer: "My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in Me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as You are in Me and I am in You. May they also be in Us so that the world may believe that You have sent Me. I have given them the glory that you gave Me, that they may be one as We are one." (John 17:20-22)

Great choice of scripture MattMMMan17, isn't it incredible how relevant it is today. I would like to think as Christians we are united in purpose and faith already (its not like we are trying to convert each other to Christianity).
This said, however, I am all too aware of the differences of opinon that many streams and denominations have. I like to try and look past this at people behind the denominational tags. Invariably I find the love of God and love for one another a universal trait. But I am with you, I think it would be fantastic if Christianity was just one Church. Just think what wonderful things could be accomplished as a faith with all that time and energy which is currently spent fighting over differences, utilised instead to the greater glory of God.

Bless Ya
Col :) <><

Mark 9

Whoever Is Not Against Us Is for Us

38"Teacher," said John, "we saw a man driving out demons in your name and we told him to stop, because he was not one of us."
39"Do not stop him," Jesus said. "No one who does a miracle in my name can in the next moment say anything bad about me,

Luke 9

49"Master," said John, "we saw a man driving out demons in your name and we tried to stop him, because he is not one of us."
50"Do not stop him," Jesus said, "for whoever is not against you is for you."

Matt,
thank you SO much for your post!

While I only ranted, you have prayed.
Thank you for the lesson. :)

63 views and but 5 replies. It makes me wonder, how many of us truly put this as a priority in our lives? If you have prayed for this intention, please post and make it known. Just the mere knowledge that others are praying for the same can give us strength to do the same. Thank you. God bless.

Indeed. I join in praying for this intention.

The disunity in the body, and the multiplicity of contradictory teachings put out by different groups is, I believe, one of the main things that hinders peoples Faith in the Christian message.

Jesus also said I have given them the glory that you gave me that they may be one as we are one I in them and you in me. May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me. (John 17: 22-23)

Matt, i had prayed for this intention, but did not make this known ~ i had not thought it important at the time, to acknowledge publicly that i had done so ~ but i see now, that you have a point, it is beneficial to others.

God Bless you.

I pray for unity amongst all who consider themselves God's children and for those who don't.

Holy God, source of all love, on the night of his betrayal, Jesus gave his disciples a new commandment: To love one another as he had loved them. By your Holy Spirit write this commandment in our hearts; through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.
Amen.

Amen, brother! Acts 11:17 "Therefore if God gave to them the same gift as {He gave} to us also after believing in the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I that I could stand in God's way?"
