Christians...Shall We Go On Sinning?

The question we must face about ourselves is, "Have you really begun to hate sin deep inside of you -- your own sin, the things you do wrong and, for the moment, choose to do? Have you begun to hate it? Do you want to be free from it, want to be delivered, want the power of it broken in your life?" You can only want that because there has come into your heart a new Spirit, there has come into the cup of your spirit the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ. And from that vantage point, he is beginning to assert the control of his purity throughout your whole life. You can't settle for sin any longer. In Chapter 6 Paul helps us to understand more about how this works, but here he makes it unquestionably clear. Can we go on sinning? May it never be!

As Christians: Shall we go on sinning?

After reading the article, I can say: This is how I feel, completely born again, anew in The Holy Spirit. This article expressed my feelings as a Christian wholeheartedly. (Except, I don't find sin "fun" anymore -- as I have been delivered from that false thinking.)

I find so much life and beauty elsewhere beyond sin... it's just joy unspeakable. And, yet, the beauty is not elsewhere, it's right here inside of me.

You will find that almost everything written by Ray Stedman is well worth the read. The long-time Pastor of Peninsula Bible Church was one of the best expository preachers of our day. The link you give will also give you access to many of his other books in both PDF and text format. And since I assume that it is Romans chapter 6 that you are referring to in your post, you already know the answer to your original question, "May it never be!"

I had never read anything by Mr. Stedman before.

I'd have to say he is truly an inspired preacher. It certainly was a treasure to find his webpage on the internet.

I think that is awesome that he would publish his writings free on the internet to share with everyone. A lot of writers won't do that.

It was a very insightful article. I would encourage anyone to read it, using the link I provided above.

Awesome read for anyone struggling with sin, and/or for future theologians or pastors, or anyone wishing to witness on the above issue to a person involved in the continuation of their sinful lifestyle.

Are we not changed by Christ once he ABIDES in us and we abide in him?

In my experience, I can certainly say YES!!!!!!!!!!!

I still believe that Christians will sin (of course) but once you are Christian, you will feel guilty when you do sin.

No! Jesus desires our love. Love cannot be forced so God doesn't force a person to receive Him as their Savior. Salvation begins the process of Sanctification. Every decision you make for the rest of your life either comforms you more to the likeness of Jesus or grieves the indwelling Holy Spirit. The Bible says to grieve not the Spirit. You feel the Holy Spirit's grief when you are sinful. You feel the Holy Spirit's joy when you are obedient to God's purpose and plan for your life. We are to all be broken vessels through which God can do His ministry through us in the lives of others. This earns us heavenly rewards but we experience the abundant life in the here and now when we adjust our lives for what God wishes to do through us. We are the losers when we keep on sinning.
