• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

this thread is a straight up attempt to call American Protestants bullies - Wow you really do have a chip on your shoulder - that was never the intention - it was an honest inquiry.

they were mistreated by Catholics and gave England a good thrashing for trying to do the same . - you'd have to ask an English person about that.

And now people in the UK are going to come on here and inquire on us - maybe they should just get to the back of the bus?

There's an observation I've been meaning to bring up, and this is the perfect time to do so. I've noticed a popular way to annoy others is to ask a question that one already has their own answer on, but instead of revealing it, just continually goad others with more, loaded questions and grandstanding.

And in your case, trying to make others feel as if they are being unfair with you when this thread was just a troll from the start. You wanted to know the 'American psyche' of why a lot of Americans don't consider Catholics as being legitimately Christian- that's not a genuine inquiry, that's insinuating that Americans are pompous. Your character on here has proven that even further.

I suppose we're just going to pretend that America is not the Protestant capitol of the world? You may as well ask Rome and Greece why so many over there don't think Protestants are true. Ask them about their 'psyche'

Actually no -

I understand you want to portray yourself as a victim in some way - and you have been continually rude, accusatory and obnoxious throughout this thread - past posts are evidence of this.

It was a genuine inquiry but you seem to want to make it out to be some sort of personal attack - that's really very childish.

And, you keep on doing it.
Oh well.

When you responded with 'thanks for portraying the American psyche', you forfeited any way of saying this thread isn't about pointing out America.
You didn't give anything anyone stated any thought either, you've been looking for something to pick at and nothing more. I gave you a good answer, and others as well.

It seems to be an American "thing" - I'm not sure how else you expect me to couch it -

It's ok - I wont stoop to all your accusations and rudeness. I forgive you :)

It may be more in evidence in the United States than elsewhere, but it's not especially "an American thing." It's not as common as the conversation might seem to suggest, and it's not characteristic of Protestants generally.

It's just something I noticed on online forums - I've never encountered it on this side of the Atlantic.

Well, it does exist, but it looks like people want to make much more out of it than it deserves.
