More likely it was because they kept talking about "Christ". The Antiochian pagans (or possibly Jews) who gave them the name would have no idea how Jesus acted to compare them to. They may have observed them behaving oddly, but the association with a leader would have to come from what they said.It was the people who saw them acting like Jesus that called the followers of Christ Christians.
