I was in the store last night and heard a sound track playing Will It Go Round In Circles by Billy Preston. Never realized how cool this old song was, but it was essentially about just being yourself, no matter whether you would be accepted or not. The song was written back in the early 70s when LPs (long playing records) were still being sold. The meaning of Will It Go Round In Circles? was, “Will people buy this album if I just write it the way I want to, and stay true to myself?”
Here’s the question, Christian: Are you being yourself, or are you too worried about what other people might think? Are you following your own calling, or just doing whatever everyone else tells you to, even if it means doing something no one’s ever tried before? Are you admitting to mistakes or failures, or refusing to own up to the fact that the “bad guy” in you sometimes wins? Are you sharing what you truly believe with others, or too afraid your views might get rejected to speak up?
Are you real? Posting a thread like this is a case in point for me. I just do whatever I feel led to regardless.
Grace, peace and blessings in Christ Jesus our Lord, and thanks for any replies that might be posted in advance. For those willing to reflect, it reveals how genuine we are both with others and with ourselves.
