  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I had a suprise recently while playing "enter the Matrix" on my PS2. One of trhe characters said that the Philospher Kierkegaarde taught that belief had nothing to do with logic. Belief does not ask the how or why because it doens not need to. I was moved to go look up about Kierkegaarde who was a danish philosopher and the father of existentialism apparently. He had a lot to say about stuff but what the script in the game said was really simple and i'd say pretty write. From this I spoke to a group of christians who I meet with at work and discussed it with them. God is getting his message out one way or another. Anyway I'm writing an article for our magazine at work on my experiance and the issues of belief and faith and just wandered if anyone else had had similar experiances.

Personally, I'd really hate to be associated as a "Christian" if all someone knew about Christianity was from a movie or game about The Matrix.

That'd be like seeing someone as a "conservative" if all they knew about conservatives came from liberals, heh.

Ther eis such thing as integrity in the way the message is put out/by whom it is stated....

To understand the "Matrix" and other movies produced by the Wachowski Brothers (now a brother and a sister), you firstly need to understand that these persons are deep readers, they do a tremendous amount of research into different areas. But the beliefs that they intertwine into their productions are a mixed bag of goods. Unfortunately, most of it is subtly rooted in eastern mysticism.
