  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Im really bummed about something that I have been going through lately as a believer. I surf around the net alot and went to a forum about religion where people had questions. Me being the helping person that I am went there and started answering questions nicly and honestly to the best of my five year knowledge as a Christian. When there suddenly a two people begins trieng to contradict the Biblical things I was saying and claiming I was being "overzealous", "Uber-Christain", and "Arrogant".... especially when I would not give in to their worldly beliefs. I did nothing more than what I felt in my spirit was the right thing to say and suddenly Im looked at as some Nazi... or radical extemist. If anyone can give advice, or scripture I would really apreciate it.

The only advice I have is to not worry about it. If you do not agree with someone then they tend to get defensive. Just look at most of these threads on here.
Anytime you say something people do not want to hear you risk being taunted and berated. Again, look at this forum as a prime example.
I do not know what you were saying to these people so I can not say , but speaking the truth is not what many people want to hear. :(

Congratulations, BigCountry. JohnnyV's advice is excellent: Don't worry about it!

God's Word says all those who will live Godly lives in Christ Jesus SHALL suffer persecution. Note the declarative form of the verb. This is a positive declaration. The Messiah Himself said to be careful when all those around you are speaking favorably of you.

God's plan for your life includes being misunderstood. Do not be surprised.

What can you do about it? You don't need to do anything. Why? Because the Holy Spirit is using it to His advantageto impress the other people who read. The other people are making decisions based upon your confident and courageous testifying. If you remain confident and calm in witnessesing, then two things will happen. One, your critics and opponents will continue to call you names as Jesus Christ predicted, and, two, some non-Christians and false Christians out there will be impressed to believe. You see they are weighing your happy positive confident words against the whining and sarcasm of the mudslingers. The third parties out there dislike seeing you unfairly persecuted because of your faith, but will be attracted by your confidence and hope.

Be positive and optimistic. Tell the good things Christ offers. Never back down. Never compromise the clear teaching of God's Word. That will impress third parties with the truth of your Lord, and will depress the opposition with your unflappability. You and I as Bible-believing Christians have already won the war of the ages in Christ, and your calmness and confidence send a disturbing shock wave through their ranks.

Do not reply in kind. Christ does NOT place you under obligation to answer foolish criticisms. That is not the same as answering everyone who asks a reason for the hope that is in you. By ignoring foolish and unfair criticisms you put more emphasis upon your postive messages about Christ. There will come a time when you may answer the same issues when asked in sincerity by third parties.

Lastly I post a lot at the American Civil Liberties Union website. Ever hear of them? The ACLU advances some postions hostile to Christian faith and traditional morality. There used to be many extremists there who literally cursed believers and lied about the law, persecution, and the Christian faith. I made it a point never to respond in kind to absurd rantings, to always show respect whether deserved of not, and to remain "on point" and not become sidetracked. I never blow up or make insults. Over the year or so of posting, most of the worst unfair critics have fled, new Christians have joined, and even some of the ACLU lawyers there have a grudging respect for the things I share. The main beneficiaries of my posts, and of yours also, are the people who only read and never post. See http://forums.aclu.org/

God bless you. Remember, you do not have to have answers to all their arguments. Just keep on enjoying your new life in Christ. A satisfied testimony is your greatest and most powerful argument!

Whoa, thanks alot you two:), I feel a whole lot better now. Im gonna print that out what you two said and put it on my wall to read when I wake up in the morning. That really brings to mind allot of scriptures that I have read in past years also, Im so glad to see that I see the scriptures in the Bible the same ways more experienced believers do.

Matthew 5:10-12 Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for My sake. Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.

1 Peter 2:19-24 For it is commendable if a man bears up under the pain of unjust suffering because he is conscious of God...if you suffer for doing good and you endure it, this is commendable before God. To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in His steps. "He committed no sin, and no deceit was found in His mouth." When they hurled their insults at Him, He did not retaliate; when He suffered, He made no threats. Instead, He entrusted Himself to Him who judges justly. He Himself bore our sins in His body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by His wounds you have been healed.

Hey, just spread the peace of God with everything you say and do. Whenever someone sees you and they know you are a Christian, just walk as Christ did, as someone who listened, and someone who cared in a peaceful, humane manner. Yeah, there's a lot of christians who fit that stereotype, but there are a lot who don't, who have a special responsibility to make right what is wrong with the image of Christianity.

May God and the Heavenly Host be with you!!

This is one of the passages of the Bible that I live by heavily. While people who are "intelligent" might try and falsify our faith in God, remember that they will get what's coming to them eventually.Atheists try to use logic over common sense and it's not good for them to do that. People who slander you because of what the Word of God says will suffer an even greater punishment, as it is recorded in the book of Revelations. So stay strong for God. Jesus Himself said if the world hated Him, what makes us any different? We're going to be persecuted for what is right.

1 Co. 1:18-31

18For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. 19For it is written:
"I will destroy the wisdom of the wise;
the intelligence of the intelligent I will frustrate."[3]
20Where is the wise man? Where is the scholar? Where is the philosopher of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? 21For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not know him, God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe. 22Jews demand miraculous signs and Greeks look for wisdom, 23but we preach Christ crucified: a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles, 24but to those whom God has called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. 25For the foolishness of God is wiser than man's wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than man's strength.
26Brothers, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth. 27But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. 28He chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things -- and the things that are not -- to nullify the things that are, 29so that no one may boast before him. 30It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God--that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption. 31Therefore, as it is written: "Let him who boasts boast in the Lord."
