  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Quick question: Does anyone know of any Christian sororities that are open in membership and doesn't ask for a lot to in it (such as GPA)? For example, one who belongs to a social sorority. The ones I've found have guidelines as to you have to be a member of that sorority ONLY and I don't to just be a part of one. In fact, I am pledging a NPHC sorority next semester so that is why I was asking. Thanks!

I have actually never heard of a "Christian" sorority. I have heard of sororities founded upon Christian principles, in fact my sorority, Kappa Delta, was heavily founded on the word of God and the principles contained therein. However, my sorority is not limited to only Christian Women. Since my sorority is a Non-Profit, NPC, sorority, it is not limited by any creed, denomination, sect, religion.. etc.

Question, if you are pledging a NPHC, why pledge another "sorority" or social club?

http://www.esaintl.com/ is not a Christian organizaton, but rather a civic sorority that has open membership (you can even join online). The goal of the organization is to foster community involvement/service.

www.asuf.org This group claims to be a "Christian Farority" (Or Fraternity and Sorority)

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/work_4_Christ A yahoo group to discuss this matter.

Good Question!

I've heard of many Christian Sor/Frat. Alhpa Omega is one. My problem is that I transferred from the University of Maryland @ College Park to Strayer University. Strayer doesn't seem to be on the list of 'accepted' colleges and universities for most sororities..........so that put me in a bind, because that means that even though I completed a 4 year program and obtained a Bachelor's degree....I can't even join a grad chapter.  Since Strayer has 35 campuses on the East Coast....has anyone else experienced this problem???

Does Alpha Omega have city-wide undergrad chapters? If so, you can still join.

The reason is that I want to still have my Christian ideals while being in a NPHC sorority. I am looking for one that is open (which I see there is one and have heard of). It isn't what I am looking for. Open, yes but lifetime member to a Christian sorority, no. I am a member of the work_4_christ group but it just seems to me that I have been wanting to be a member of XYZ Sorority for the longest and having a relationship with a man in a fraternity makes me want it even more. I would have joined a Sorority with having God on the minds but what makes you think that this is really what it is based on? TTYL

Ok, now I get it.

You do plan to join an NPHC sorority but you would like to join a specifically Christian sorority/sisterhood as well.

First question:
1. Will you be able to devote time/energy to both sisterhoods? Joining an NPHC sorority takes work and dedication. I'm sure whatever Christian sisterhood you join would like for you to be an active member with them as well.

2. Are you just joining an NPHC sorority because your boyfriend is frat?If don't think you will be able to find this sort of fellowship in an NPHC sorority (but in a Christian sorority instead) then why even join an NPHC sorority in the first place.

I think before you join anthing, you need to look past all the "pomp and circumstance" of NPHC and seek God's will for you. I would imagine that whatever sisterhood you join, you will need to feel comfortable enough to express your faith in and fellowship with your sorors.
