There's also a good Shoutcast station out there that plays music from all of the groups mentioned above. If your area is like mine, there is a general lack of good christian rock on any of the christian radio stations. That's where streaming stations on Shoutcast comes in...

:o Huh?? Since when is he Christian???

Believe it or not, Ronnie James Dio did the vocals on a couple of songs from Kerry Livgren's first Christian solo album.

Kerry became a Chrisitan while he was still with Kansas. (For you kids out there , Kerry Livgren was the lead guitarist and songwriter for Kansas. He wrote Dust in the Wind and Carry On My Wayward Son, among a bunch of others) While he was still with Kansas, he wanted to do a solo album of songs reflecting his new faith. He's not a singer, though, so he needed someone else to handle that job. He had different singers on most of the songs. One day he heard a tape of a voice that he thought would be perfect for a couple of his songs...Mask of the Great Deceiver and Live For the King. It turned out the voice belonged to RJD!! Kerry wasn't an old, hardened Chrisitan yet :D (and I don't know if he is now! This was just a poke at certain Christian types...and you know who you are!!) so he was open to having Ronnie sing on his album. And he got a chance to share the gospel with the lead singer from Black Sabbath!! (I dunno if it did any good. It doesn't look like it...but hey...some seed was sown...can't control the soil type it lands on!)

If you can find it, the album was called Seeds of Change, and it was a pretty good one. That's also the title of Kerry's autobiography, which is where I fouynd this story.

I guess I'm kind of an old school kinda guy. I still prefer listening to Rez, DeGarmo & Key, Petra, Daniel Band....

The only Chrisitan radio station that plays much music around here is KLOVE...and most of the stuff they play puts me to sleep!!

Glenn Kaiser from Resurrection Band has another band now...Glenn Kaiser Band. It's just three guys playing cool blues. I played some for a coworker the other day and he said it sounds like ZZ Top, and that would be close. ZZ Top has a strong blues flavor, and they do play a lot of 'real' blues, too!

I'm findinf that it's entirely possible you can't even find the 'good' music in stores these days. Glenn Kaiser Band doesn't sell their stuff through the local Christian music store. The mnanager said it's because of the distribution set-up. GKB sells their stuff mainly through their website: www.glennkaiser.com

I've found out that Randy Stonehill is still putting our new music, too, but it's not available in stores, either. I bought his latest one at a concert, and you can also get it through his website. Larry Norman, too.
