Christian Rock Music?

I'm just starting this poll to see what peoples attitudes to Christian Rock Music are.

I love any kind of Christian music...doesn't matter what genre it is...some of it may be a little cheesy, but then again there are some really, really good talented bands/artists out there.

My husband likes certain generes of music (punk, for example) that lend themselves to lyrics that make me uncomfortable. I don't like to hear music about how someone is going to beat someone up for making fun of his hairstyle. I don't like to hear music about how your parents just don't care and life is full of ****.

My husband used to say that he likes this music because it portrays life as it really is. Well, that's not what my life is, and it's not how I want my life to be.

Recently my husband has been listening to Christian bands like the OC Supertones. It's punk (ska), but the lyrics make me feel GOOD! I love the messages, and they fill my head with the wonders of God. It's beautiful!

The best part is that my husband always felt unhappy that I didn't share his interest in music, and now I can! We can enjoy the music together, and it's had a positive effect on our marriage.

If anyone can name a 'good' Christian Rock group then I will try and listen to some of their music. (by borrowing the CD off Christian friends)

Check out the O.C. Supertones, they are a good Christian rock band. Their lyrics are all Scripturally sound and they give all the glory to God. This is an example of their lyrics:

First of all, Rock is a very general term in todays climate of genre's and sub-genre's. Whether you would like it or not depends on if the style tickles your fancy. But there is not only "good" Christian "rock" bands, there are many, many great ones.
One band that comes to mind that probably falls under the category of heavy rock ( now Im no expert at categorizing bands into their respective genre, so Im making my best educated guess) is Big Dismal - Believe. They are very talented musicians and they also have very provoking and thoughtful Christ centered lyrics.
There is also a band that falls into the category of a dancy, bluesy, rock. Robert Randolf and the Family Band. Great musicians with a few Worship style songs, but they also make some songs with very little "spiritual" relevancy. Not un Christian, but just not always directly about God.
Then you have the hard stuff like Living Sacrifice, that fall into the Hardcore genre. Extremely talented and very Christ centered lyrically. But hardcore is a scene in the minority cause it is an acquired taste.
You might want to check out a band called Salvador which is Salsa/Rock.
If you have not heard of Third Day you have been living on a deserted isle cause alot of their stuff would be considered "Rock"
Thats just a few, if you listen to at least some of the bands I have listed, you would not be able to deny the talent, however, you just simply might not have a liking for the style of "Rock" in any sub-genre.

you could check out switchfoot, P.O.D., third day, grits, dc talk, stacy orrico,t-bone. there are so many out there you are bound to like some.

i like punk, ska, emo, reggae, latin music. but rock/rap (pod, skillet) and alt rock. isnt apealing to me. the groups i like are:

With that said, I love POD, Skillet, Emery, Beloved, Dead Poetic, Spoken, Kutless, etc...

Further Seems Forever is ok...not as hard as I like, but I can listen to pretty much anything...
