  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Their "doctrine" on this is highly unbiblical, full of superstition, and sloppy.

You won't find any Bible passages condemning certain kinds of music. Rather, you will find that the Lord is open to all kinds of music. If even the shofar trumpet in Psalm 150 is worthy to praise the Lord, which was used to pump soldiers up for battle, why not an electric guitar?

Read that whole psalm and see if there is ANY room for their arguments. You won't find any. Look up their verses in proper context and you won't find that they substantiate their claims against rock music at all.

These sourpusses will have plenty to be ashamed of before the Father if they do not repent. Sabotaging legitimate ministries and slandering Christians is not going to get them any reward.

After going to this website and the one form the original thread, i have mixed feelings about POD. The first one scared me a lot and i thought i was totally convinced, considering i was reading the booklet in their cd the other day and one of them in thier "thanks you" says thank you to Jah and i'm thinking who in world is that. but i read what they had to say about that in the other website and really how can i say what is the right beliefs of this band i don't know the people in this band or thier heart only God does. I can't say that they are christians or if thier music is christian or not, really i can't tell. But if they say that they are christians who am i to tell them that they aren't?

Years ago, there was a young fellow who was pressed into service aboard a ship. He couldn't stand that life, and soon deserted. He was captured, flogged, and put to work on a slave ship. His captain abused him terribly. He later became captain of his own ship, plying the slave trade, and probably carrying on the abusive traditions he was taught.

The man was a sinner, no doubt. He had been treated terribly, and treated others just as badly; I don't think I have to give details of life aboard a slave ship. Many bad things could have been said about this man, and most of them would be true.

But one night, during a fierce storm that threatened to ruin his ship, God made Himself known to this fellow, and he was saved. He found his salvation in the Lord, and wrote a song about it.

That song is called "Amazing Grace".

So - should all Christian music be written by saints?

Well biblically every Christian is a Saint so yes all Christian music should be written by saints. I was also quite disapointed when the new Pope said this when he was in his new position (I don't know the proper term).

I think that response is evading my point.

I believe in the "priesthood of all believers", but didn't feel the need to phrase my question so specifically, thinking that the context of my illustration was rather clear.

Itsw not the style that worships God but the Lyrics. The only kinds of music some teens listen to is hard rock, and would you not rather them listen to music that says uplifting things than to kill and says all kinds of bad things?

It was created to glorify God, and we also have the right to benefit from its existance. The Bible says we can and should glorify God with all kinds of music (Psalm 150). Man cannot tell us what God likes and doesn't like - if that were possible, we wouldn't need the Bible. But God has declared that all things that have breath are to praise Him, and I'm not about to exclude electric guitars or drum sets.
