There is nothing new about so call contemporary music, no matter the genre. It is simply the worship style of David: very God feeling vs. Moses: very God fearing. I would classify "traditional" music in the Moses bracket. This guy needs to read Psalm 150 if he doesnt think modern day music styles can make a difference. However, I get the impression he is criticising the artist more than the genre of music. He does state he still plays guitar.

Blessings...

ARRRHH....this makes me so angry, how can you seriously judge music by the genre. Isn't it just a way of expressing yourself?
I believe that there is beauty in every genre, and don't think that God is so narrow minded that he can't see the beauty of rock music.
Just because their lyrics aren't "happy" doesn't mean they are satanic. As a christian you also have ups and downs.

It's all a matter of taste. Not everyone likes the same kind of music. Just because you love The Lord and want to worship Him doesn't mean you have to listen to CCM or any other kind. If you are a rock fan then find the Christian music that fits your taste. I thought all Christian music was slow and sad at first then I discovered CCM and fell in love with it. Just find what you like as long as it's something you know God would approve of.

My opinion is that this guy has been mislead and misguided. I think whatever music glorifies and uplifts God is good Christian music.
No. No one is mislead. They are christians thinking what's right and wrong to them. If they prefer the KJV. Let them. They do it out of faith.

If you like christian rock. That's cool. You do it out of faith. God isn't a God of standards for you. You do these things to honor Him.

Let's not shove it in their faces and vice versa but build each other up according to both side's standards.

Well...that was a very interesting site. I like many of the artists that were criticized and was very surprised by many of the things I read. Like someone said before, there were very good points made and all the evidence was there...some things were exagerated though.
In my opinion Christian "rock" can be good and I do worship with it and love it, but we really have to be careful with what we listen. There was a shor study on music that was made at the Christian club at my college and the truth is that music has more influence on people than we thing.
The bottom line is that many of so called "Christian bands" do not glorify God at all are a terrible influence. I'm not trying to judge or anything but the best thing to do is to really let the Holy Spirity guide you.

i didn't like the point he made about the 'type' of music to be played...'oh the psalms didn't mention drums' that means that it is voodoo worship...that really frustrates me... it kinda burns me up when i think about a babe in Christ reading this and getting all hooked on it, when (it has been mentioned before) what it all comes to is the fruit of the spirit. newsboys, thrid day, mercy me, and many others, they are PRAISE songs, they worship Jesus with there music. they even say His name! some old hymns don't even do that. now im not saying that it has to say His name in order for it to be praise. but im just trying to make a point that just because thats what they used in the old days means thats how we have to do it for the rest of our lives...that kinda stuff ruffels my feathers hmph.
one point that he made that i have an agreement with him on though, the whole 'rock put your hand up with your pinky and your index finger sticking up...' its such a cliche thing that is in the 'rock' world. but that is bad juju, orginaly it was a sign of the goat, or in other words Satan. and i think people should do some research before doing cause 'its cool'. it was in a post before, the lack of knowledge is not an excuse.
sorry if this is kinda mis-spelled, or kinda mix matched, but im on a slow comp :(

I played in a rock band while I was an unbeliever so music has always been a big part of me. I personally think that if the lyrics glorify God then there is nothing wrong with it if it is not some bizarre music along the lines of Rob Zombie or something.

I personally think that MercyMe is the best band out now so far as God-honoring lyrics and theology go. The musicians are very good also.
I also like Michael W Smith for the same reason.

It totally depends on the artist's heart. :)

One of the things i don't like about some christian rock is that to me it isn't very good for praise and worship. Just listening to it is cool enough for me.
