Thanks for your answer guys..I was speaking to my dad last night and we sometimes have bible discussions,, My dad believes that it's possible that everyone who ends up going to hell, may end up being destroyed with the second death.. I was already afraid of hell. But if it's true that most who go there will receive the second death and have their souls destroyed. it makes me fear it even more. I had always assumed that Justice was everywhere and that people in hell would be punished according to their sins. kind of like people will be rewarded according to how they lived their life... Does anyone know, if it is true that everyone who goes to hell will get the second death?
It was prohibited to Israel to engage torture. If it was not allowed by G-d for man to torture another in the temporal how much more so with the eternal? It is imperative when you examine some of the expressions used that you understand these from a Jewish perspective.
First one needs to differentiate between the FIRES which are described as eternal, the punishment which is eternal (permanent) and the SOUL which is NOT eternal.
What is the original lie? The serpent said to the woman, “You surely will not die! " G-d declared that if man ate of the forbidden fruit that, "in that day you shall surely die."
Were told that "the soul that sins will die." The wages of sin are death....
Today people still fight what G-d says... There is this ongoing mythology that man is eternal and this is a lie. Man is 100% mortal. Paul tells is in 1 Corinthians 15:53 - For this perishable must put on the imperishable, and this mortal must put on immortality.
It is the gift of G-d; 2 Timothy 1:10 but now has been revealed by the appearing of our Savior Christ Jesus, who abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel,
It is clear to me that we do not possess a soul that is immortal or there would be no need for it to be given to the Believer. G-d does not give us something that we already possess. Clearly since we are being given this it is because we lack it to begin with.
Revelation tells us that there IS a second death. That which undergoes death IS NOT ALIVE. They are mutually exclusive concepts. If one is thrown into the Lake of Fire and experiences the second death they are dead, not alive. As man was told in the beginning death would be the result of the sin.
