My 4 year old son has been in a Christian play school for 9 months now. He has so far enjoyed his friends and the social interactions. I have never had a problem leaving him, in fact he usually tosses a quick "bye Mom" over his shoulder as he runs into the classroom. I know I am slightly biased, I do believe he is a well behaved child. Other parents have commented on how kind he is and how well behaved he was during social situations. Here is my problem, since playschool began, about 3 to 4 times a month, my son gets a time out. He only has two classes a week, so we are talking 50% of the time here! The teachers never tells me, I hear it from my son. I have asked the teachers if they have any concerns and they always say it was nothing and not to worry. As the year has progressed my son is enjoying school less and less. The last two weeks he has begun crying when I leave him. Today he told me he got a time out because he was crying for his Mom. My heart is broken!! Other parents are unhappy with how "cold" the teachers are, but no one else has had the time out issues we are having. I am considering pulling my soon for the remainder of the year. I'd like to hear some thoughts... am I being to sensitive? I don't want my son to think he can quit hard things but, he's only 4!! I want him to learn to love school not to fear or dislike it!
