Lil confused on these two bands, whether they are Christian or not:

Switchfoot
12 Stones

I see them popping up on the forums, but I also see them on tv, on CDs like NOW and stuff. Which are they? Or, which do they claim to be anyway?

So, are "Christian" bands supposed to not be popular? And does making them popular magically make them "secular"?
It seems that some do believe that if a Christian band (let's take Switchfoot, for example) becomes popular, they are no longer Christian. Never understood that line of thinking!

I think it is more that a band will start watering down their music and will start to make music more appealing to their audience instead of making music to glorify God.

Just because they are popular, no, that does not make them secular. I listen to a lot of Christian music that is popular even in the secular world.

My point was that it was just kinda weird that I saw these Christian bands on a CD compilation that also included songs about pre-teen sex and drugs and stuff, and it confused me.

I just wasn't sure if they were Christian... I wasn't saying that they weren't.

But hey, if they are starting to include Christian music on these CDs, good!!!

It is indeed good if they are including Christian music on these cd's so some of the type of people who buy those types of cd's can possibly start being led to Christ from the music.
