Christian Naturism - Skinny Dipping

There was and article in the Travel section of www.canada.com today titled:

It states that nearly all Canadians have gone skinny dipping at some time.

Have you ever gone skinny dipping? (Bath tubs don't count.)

Went a couple of times when I was a teenager. It's just one of those things that you do when you're in your teens; a right of passage, if you will. (Not that I'm suggesting that every teenager should do this; it's just one of those things I did that my parents would have been more alarmed about if I hadn't done it.)


And let me tell you, when you're skinny dipping at night in a murky lake, you can't see anything, so don't get your hopes up.

Yes. And as it was a naturally formed, spring-fed creek, it was pretty cold. Alas, I was not one of the people greeted by the "love turtle" in that creek. It was apparently very inquisitive.

Yes, in a private pool on many occasions.

Oh and also at a lake quite a few times but I was younger, and with my family. We were camping, and I just decided that I didn't like that swimsuit they put on me. I was only 3.

Pertaining to Skinny dipping,

One thread indicated that 68% currently participate in skinny dipping either alone or in a group.

Another thread indicated that 55% currently participate in skinny dipping either alone or in a group.

Yet another thread indicated that 52% currently participate in skinny dipping either alone or in a group.


Pertaining to naturism,

One Christian forum indicated that 80% have either tried naturism or are currently involved in naturism in some form or another.

Another site indicated that only 22% have either tried naturism or are currently involved in naturism in some form or another.

Ahem, anyway... I've never gone skinny dipping, though I have gone nude to a nude beach several times. I simply never bothered to go in the water.

BTW, Is this a Christian-only poll?

I don't like wearing bathing suits so I swim nude whenever I get a chance. But, I don't do that where people can see me. Most of my skinny dipping has been in a back yard swimming pool surrounded by a high privacy fence.

Yep, a few times... all with Canadians, oddly enough.

Are you unable to swim? Wouldn't the excersise do you some good?

Eh, I understand what newlamb is saying about not being in shape. I certainly wouldn't want to inflict a view of my nude body to the general populace. Most men would run away gagging. Fortunately, my husband likes the way I look.

Serious answer: only at dusk or in the dark.

It's not a "body complex" thing -- I'm very fair skinned and I burn to a crisp within 30 minutes of full sun, even using a sunscreen.

THAT, my friend, is "wisdom".

Unfortunately, some people do not generate suffucuent quantities of melanin to create an affective sun barrier (tan) in their skin. Usually it takes a loooooong time for them to get any tan at all with out burning. However, I have known several fair-skinned people that have patiently and slowly garnered a beautiful tan by very gradually spending ever increasing amounts of time in natural sunlight.

I do not understand why this is framed as a christian issue. Where does the concept that nudity is bad come from? Impractical at times, not socially acceptible in most circumstances, but as a religious prohibition?

For the record, I have gone skinny dipping many times, in pools and ponds, sometimes in mixed company, other times not.
