:preach: 1Peter 4:16-19 In Psalm 73 is the serious struggle going on in the heart of a child of God who is conscerned by what he sees going on around him. He is battling with the age old question of truth. He looks around him and sees the prosprity of the wicked. There are people who do not care for God. Who do not live for the Lord, and it seems things are going quite well for them, they have an easy time on their job. They seem to have all the material things they could want. It seems that misfortune never comes to them. The wicked seem to prosper better than those who live for the Lord. He looks at his own life and within his own heart. He has tried to live for the Lord and serve him, and be what God wants him to be. In his life he sees troubles, problems, and sorrows. Thigs have not been going as he hoped. So when he looks without he sees things that disturb him. Now! when he looks within he sees things that disappoint him and he comes to the conclusion that it is not worth it. It just wasn't worth being a Christian. It was only when he went into the house of God and saw life as it is in light of eternity, and in the light of God's Word that he is able to understand that it did matter to be a Christian Now I suppose that what we read in Psalms 73 could well be the feeling of many people today. Perhaps you have recieved Jesus as your personal savior , or have been thinking about doing so. Yet, some of the things you have seen in life and some of the inconsistencies you meet within life have caused you to wonder if this Christianity is all it is intended to be? The question I ask? Does it really pay to serve Jesus? I'm going to try and help you answer that question to your own satisfaction and to your own blessing. In my next posts I will simply call your attention to several things which I believe make it worth while to be a Christian.
