In regard to your friend, he may not have the experience to program etc. BUt even if he just loves Roblox we could put him on as a game tester, when it is needed over the project. For which he would be paid.

What platform are you looking to run the game on, mobile or pc? If you’re doing it for pc I’d love to be a tester, free of charge.

Yes, games programming is a little different from other types. I have mainly worked with web technologies myself. But have been learning Roblox coding. The thing I find the hardest is the physics, and coordinate system, everything else is quite basic once you get the hang of it.

If you would like to do this, I have a game, or more and experience I wish to create. Experiences are where people walk through your experience, can read stories, listen to sounds, and see picture, and 3D objects. I would suggest you download Roblox, and walk through some. They are often called things like "Bully Story" etc.

Yes, step 1 for me will be doing research into Roblox, as would for anyone else who is unfamiliar with it.

According to a quick Google search, Roblox is coded in the Lua programming language. This documentation might help for programmers:

Researching the Lua programming language itself might also be a good starting point for programming. But that's not where I would start my analysis, more like looking at existing Roblox games and evaluating the existing community inside and around the game, what they want to buy, etc. Community vibes.

The experience will be called something like "The God Story" ... or some better name. But the experience will be the story of Jesus from creation to His assenssion. It will focus on the love of God for all people, and their ability to receive that love. The key experiences I wish to express will be:

1. Creation
2. The Fall
3. Isaiah's prophecy of Jesus
4. Jesus Birth
5. Jesus teaching
6. Jesus Death and Resurrection
7. What the disciples say this means for us

Note the Isaiah experience, will focus on Isaiah 53.

It looks like this story will need some type of vision or time travel element. Perhaps Isaiah the Prophet could be a NPC who shows the Player character the Creation and The Fall, the Prophecy of Isaiah 53 is delivered "in the present", and then some time travel element moves the character to Jesus' time to observe this whole thing play out.

Note that this experience will not be a big money spinner, it will only have a donate to creators button. So be aware of that in your decision process.

I need to research Roblox "experiences" more, I think. But "marketing" would just be attracting people likely to donate, and also people who need to be reached with the Gospel with said experience (who may not necessarily donate).

I’m a huge fan of gaming, have been for over 30 years. I mostly play on pc so I know a bit about discovering glitches and bugs and can give my personal opinion on gameplay and ideas.

I thought I would put this as a disclaimer at the top of this post, and post it in the thread. I have been considering the viability of this project. I really can’t see much profit being returned from the current venture. So I strongly discourage people from working on the project. However, if you wish it to be a skill building exercise, with a very minor, ability to get a little back, then feel free to continue. It is a real business, so you will have real working experience, but I doubt whether it will turn a big profit.

Sorry for the back and forth on this project. I did say that I canceled this project due to feeling computer games can strangulate faith by taking a lot of people’s time. However, I had some interest in the project from a third party, who was interested in working on the project. I felt rather conflicted because of the choice I had made to stop the project. But I was uncertain what direction I should take. So rather than rely upon my own opinions, I again sought the LORD in prayer, after which time I felt He wanted me to reinstate the project. Sorry for messing with people’s heads on this.
