• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The most important thing I've learned from our polemics in Christian Forums is the value of antithesis.

I've made this lesson my signature.

I sincerely want to thank each and everyone for their passionate and thoughtful efforts; because,
I would not as well understand what I am left to believe if not for the contributions of those who do not see it my way.

Thank you, all.
Sincerely, thank you.

I have always thought that the "what I am left to believe" was a fallacy of sorts.

Have you explored all of the options? Are you omniscient?

"Arthur Conan Doyle, the author of Sherlock Holmes, ended up believing in spiritualism and fairies, using the Holmes method."

I am left to believe that I have not, nor can I, explore all options.
As such, I am also then left to believe that I am quite finite and therefore infinitely less than omniscient.

Furthermore, I am left to believe that what I am currently left to believe is subjective and therefore subject to change.

Yeah, arguing with people you disagree with does help your own understanding of issues.

I got into a rather controversial topic a couple of days ago and I would greatly appreciate some activity on this thread. It is over on Unorthodox Theology so feel absolute freedom to go off in whatever direction you feel led to go in!

Did Mr. Christian Crowell plan a revival before he was even born????

Do you believe in fairies?

The idea of fairies exists; however, their existence has not been actualized. In other words, they have no being.
Being is actualized existence. I don't believe that anything comes to exist.
I do believe that some things come to be, but fairies are not among them.

Many people get stuck in their own beliefs, becoming unwilling to accept that others have opposing views.
It is easy to forget that everyone has a reason to believe the way that they do and they have just as much right to an opinion as you do.

To fully accept this is a great thing, because it will allow you an ability to hear better then you ever had before.

How did you come to this knowledge? Would you not have to first define was a fairy is, prior to deciding whether they exist or not? How would others verify this?
