  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Gan of Espa,

Welcome to the site. I’m sorry to hear you’ve had difficulty forming connections. Have you considered joining a local Toastmasters group? Sometimes its helpful to have feedback on our communication and develop proficiency in a positive environment with others doing the same.

We don’t experience ourselves on the receiving end. We’re not privy to our body language or the quirks others notice. But in a group you can work out the kinks and strengthen your confidence along the way. They’re a friendly bunch and you’ll have opportunities to socialize and have fun.

When you’re relaxed and no longer concerned about receptivity you’ll interact with potential suitors with greater ease. I’m aware of a couple of options on the fellowship side. I contemplated moving to Boston. Do you get to the city often?

Yours in His Service,

~Bella

Gan,

Toastmasters isn’t a career organization. It is a social group devoted to improving communication and leadership skills. Many use it for career development due to the structured paths, feedback, and networking.

You acknowledged difficulty developing friendships and struggling with loneliness despite church attendance. Building relationships in adulthood is challenging. Demands and responsibilities minimize availability. Marriage and family bring additional changes which are deeply felt by Christian singles.

If you don’t reside in a community with opportunities for socialization or a church with a heart for gatherings it can be easy to feel left out. Loneliness is a common complaint for singles.

Bridging the gap is a must. Sometimes it means stepping outside of your comfort zone. Cost of living and a decline in church attendance are challenges you can’t ignore. You may be better off relocating to an area with a lower cost of living and more job prospects. Tennessee is a popular spot for Christians.

Given your schedule, how’s your availability? Are weekday or weekend outings best?

Yours in His Service,

~Bella

Gan,

I’m glad you’ve found an affordable place to live that suits your needs. That’s half the battle for most. Especially in Massachusetts.

I didn’t think you were demeaning the suggestion. Many make similar statements due to their popularity in the corporate world. Its a useful program for personal development and soft skills are key in the workplace.

I contemplated attending divinity school in the past while discerning my calling. Are you open to online programs or would you prefer to go in person? The majority are expensive. Do you want to remain with LCMS?

This is a good forum to post ministry questions.

Given what you’ve shared I would settle school first. When you’re clear on the next step and where you’d like to attend you can focus your efforts on companionship. It will be easier to meet someone while you’re enrolled and you’ll make friends too.

Yours in His Service,

~Bella
