Christian After-School Activities

None can deny the need for after school programs in our public schools, and there are all sorts of programs available but I haven't heard of any that reconcile the need for Jesus in the lives of youth.

Kids who have nothing to do after school eventually do find sinful activities such as participating in gangs, drugs, and other illegal things out of sheer boredom, lack of supervision/guidance, or having too much time with nothing constructive to do! Surely this wasted time can be used to mold children into outstanding citizens and disciples of God.

Does anyone know of any Christian after school programs that I could be a part of?

Any tips of how to get such a program started?

Look into your local YMCA. Upward bound is another good program.

For grade school you might contact Child Evangelism Fellowship about starting a Good News Club. This is a Bible Club that meets once a week and can even be held in the school. They will help with the details and training.

You should start clubs and other related activities inside your campus to make students involved in the good environment. This will not only keep them away from bad associations but also increase their competitiveness. Some of the College Prep High School Twin Cities are providing similar opportunities to their students.
