Do any of you keep a Chotki to pray the Jesus prayer?

I have a black one that was blessed by a Catholic priest.

I need to use it more.

Especially with my own anxiety disorder.

Yes, but I go through cycles. I have not been using it lately and I am really not sure of its value since we already memorize the Jesus prayer. It is just four counting and I really don't care how many I pray. But, like the rosary it is also a symbol of our prayer. I think that is significant.

Mine has small knots but they are so close together one can hardly tell which one I am on.

I do- but I just call it a prayer rope. It helps with bad dreams too.

How interesting that you should mention a Chotki today. These were passed out at all Masses at both of my parishes' sites this weekend.

My parish is a blend of cultures and traditions, but doesn't have ties to Eastern monastic traditions. While I have never used a Chotki, two prayers I repeat frequently every day are the Jesus prayer and Ps 51:12,

The Jesus prayer: Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy on me, a sinner.
and
Ps 51: 12 Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a resolute spirit within me.
Sometimes I add Ps 51: 13 and 14.

I’m a former (as of today) Eastern Orthodox and have one. I didn’t find that it helped me focus on the Jesus prayer the way the rosary keeps me focused. That’s just me though. I say the Jesus prayer more in short durations.

Yes, prayer beads, but I don't know the name. They were offered as a Father's Day gift to all the fathers.
There are 5 wooden beads strung on each side of a wooden cross. The cross has a stylized corpus on one side.

When you say you have one, do you mean a 33 knot Chotki or a 10-bead string, as shown in the photo?
