How were the seedings picked??

I made a list from 1 to 8.
I put 4 bands in each numerical category. (So, Zeppelin, U2, Pink Floyd and Beatles were put in category #1)
You may wonder why some band you hate is seeded higher than some band you like.....well, I tried to reflect the forum's musical tastes. If I had to seed them on my own preferences, it would be a lot different....(like, Phish would be #1 seed, and Aerosmith would be down around 7 or 8)

If anyone has the know how to make a bracket graphic, that would be pretty nice.

Let me know if you think certain alphabetical groups are either too strong or too weak. This is really subjective but if theres a significant response that X is too strong and Y is too weak, we can still make some changes without disturbing the structure.

Quite interesting, ps139! Especially the seedings. To me, Group D is the group of death - some key matchups early, although I'm not sure whether it's too strong! Truth be told, everyone would have had different structures and ways of setting up the tourney, but it looks very promising.

You have a good point KristianJ. Perhaps we should trade a band from Group D to Group A or C? Maybe switch ACDC with POD or Dire Straits? Or switch A2 and D2? Or A3 and D3?

I'll be back on tomorrow evening to see what everyone thinks.

I think you did a pretty good job with the seedings. The only real qualms I see are Velvet Underground as a 7 and Black Sabbath as an 8. I think that either could be a strong 2 seed, but perhaps this is just my opinion. Maybe we will see U2 get knocked off in round 1!!!

Queen seeded seventh? No, I think that's way too low.

Who here thinks U2 versus Kiss is better than U2 versus Black Sabbath? Or ... better idea - how about U2 versus Britney! (Alright, so we know who I'm fighting for to win, haha) Overall, I like it. Just as long as U2 goes far ...

I agree. I was very interested to see Black Sabbath versus U2. Black Sabbath is an incredibly tough 8 seed, and I for one will be voting for them. And VU a 7?????? J/k. That's actually a pretty good seeding of them probably, since there aren't as many VU fans around here.

Overall a great job with the seedings, guys. Looks like it'll be an interesting tournament :)

I say we leave it like it is. Different people will have different opinions of which bracket is stronger, so it'll just get too confusing. Why not just go with what we have, especially since the overall reaction to it seems pretty positive.

I as well, and not only to spite U2 (;)). Black Sabbath is widely recognized as the greatest hard rock band of all time (with the exception of Zep).

Are the seedings based on the popularity of the bands within CF? If that is the case, then the "tournament committee" did an ever better job than i thought! Don't worry nadro, VU will get their share of votes.

Yeah, Zep is the better band, but when it comes to being dark, Sabbath takes the cake.

Either response would probably be just. The Rolling Stones are an incredibly tough #2 seed as well. When it comes down to ranking bands, outside of the CF influence, the Beatles are the only band who would probably be considered a stronger seed than the Stones.

Yes, thats how I tried to seed them - based on the opinions here, who loves who. Thats why I put the Beatles so high. etc etc.
