Almost nothing will get done in 2020 during a presidential election year, other than the budget and debt fights (and compromises). The OPEN question is 2019.
============================
SOME GIVENS
1) There will definitely be investigations of the actions of Trump and his cabinet (past and present).
2) Many Trump people will go by year's end.
3) The judiciary will continue to move toward the right. There will be no stopping any nominations.
===========
CHOICES
A) The Democrats could put off the impeachment efforts until 2020, for maximum effect.
B) Trump could compromise and pass legislation on infrastructure, criminal justice reform, paid leave, minimum wage, pre-existing conditions, the wall, DACA, and/or comprehensive immigration. House Dems will be difficult to deal with on legislation, but likely not as difficult as House Republicans have been.
C) At very least, there will be several points where there must be compromise or the government will close down. There were compromises in 2017 and 2018 at theses times; they will happen again.
D) A middle class tax cut (a bad idea) could be proposed by Trump with the money coming from decreases in Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid.
