• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Yes, certainly. One can be allergic to chocolate. Actually, chocolate is quite a complex substance, and your daughter may be allergic to an ingredient in it, as someone else has said already.

If your daughter is not allergic to dairy, then we can safely rule out her being allergic to the tiny amount of milk found in chocolate...

Hi susiesmommy!
I gave up chocolate 10 years ago this Easter! Yep! And I give God ALL the credit!
I did a study on chocolate and coffee and cola.
I do have info for chocolate, it's allegies and on coffee.
Chocolate comes from the cacao plant (seed). Cocoa is the dried and partically fermented fatty seed of the cacao tree.
Chocolate allergies are rare. Most are allergic to the other ingredients added to chocolate.
Coffee is prepared from roasted seeds of a coffee plant.
2mian species are:
Coffee arabica and Coffee canephora.

Hope that helps!;)

i have heard of chocolate allergies! I have a slight allergy to mint&spearmint flavor in some brands- i just feel sick after eating two pieces-not all brands though.

Some people i know are allergic to Pineapple flavoured chocolate.

Try a few different brands-Maybe white, Dark, Milk-many different flavours, chocolate with nuts and try them a few weeks apart!

The flavoured and Nuts chocolate I'll guess are more likely to cause Allergies-than the plain Dark, Milk &White chocolate.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OpenCola

I'ts been a while since I looked this stuff up, I didn't even know that the Kola nut is no longer being used?!!!!!
The 1 allergie that runs through all these seems to be "Theobromine". Headaches maybe?
I know my friend is allergic to diet drinks or anything with aspertane (sp?) in it. It gives her a migraine.
