Your comments will be interesting...we do not go to malls anymore.
Well, no evening drive. I've decided to stay in... past due on and oil change, past due rotating tires ... bla bla bla.. so probably not a good move. I inspected the hot water heater. it's toast... Now I'm learning all about this little gadget called "shark bite fittings.".. Since money is a bit tight and home repairs are expensive, I'd like to take it slow. If I could just get the lines severed from the hot water heater and capped off, (from my internet searches the little shark bite gadget will help with that. ) then I can have (at least cold tap water for laundry, dishes baths, drinking, cooking and toilet flushing. I'm tired of finding places to fill up buckets of water and bringing them home. sigh.... I will probably run to the hardware store in the morning to learn more about removing my hot water heater. it is in a tight space and it looks like a big one(40 gal). sigh again.
I'm warm, dry and fed, but it feels sometimes like I'm camping out in my home. lol... I have a job for which I am grateful, but it is stressful and times are uncertain.

ROFLOL ^_^

I'll hopefully be taking my LAST sponge bath. today I will be trying the epoxy fix on my water issue. If it works will be doing laundry at home, if not off to the laundry mat I go. Company later for a few hours in the afternoon, and then if time permits I'd like to take an evening drive to a simi-near-by mall... I'd like to do a little marketing study to watch consumer behavior. (no shopping, just watching.... well maybe a pretzel.. lol
Praying your fix worked and you are luxuriating in a hot bath
I love people watching too, but I never go to malls anymore...and I ALWAYS get a pretzel :D

If my thyroid is behaving and I have no allergies/asthma/headaches, I sleep well :p

You do not go to malls? Is that because there are none, or because you don't like them? I know they build shopping centers now instead most often.. I'm trying to study consumer behavior in malls.... (or shopping centers).. Kind of a little self study project I'm working on. You avitar says so california... (I was in San Diego two years ago on vaca... nice place).. I don't shop on vaca though... I sight see, eat and absorb as much of the local culture as possible.

The hot water heater is toast. leaking from the bottom, rusted, .... floor damage under it... I need to get it out of there. will most likely be tomorrows project. I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing. lol

Wow, that really is roughing it for our modern way of life...I can live with the electricity off easier than having no running water.

Our recent plumbing expenses were very.."expensive"...:eek::eek: the total for both digs came to about $10,000.00...:doh::doh:

I shop at a few stores in open strip malls...have not been inside and enclosed mall for several years...I get most all my clothes at the local discount store...Ross...that is in my town...then i mostly buy groceries, we shopped online for nearly every Christmas gift.

I just do not have the energy to drive or walk around a lot...save myself to take care of the home, hubby, myself and the dog.

Boy, we are sooo alike with our health problems....I have always had trouble sleeping even when younger and healthier...sometimes felt worse in the morning than when I went to bed...excercise and fresh air did not make a difference either.

Did you follow instructions....> mix until it is a single colour throughout... ?
*****************************************************
What ? went 'wrong'
*********************

Here then, is a little USEFUL INFORMATION

The heater is FED, via a water pipe [?]
There will be a Lockvalve on the pipe ... there are different kinds
see examples:
brass_ball_valve_lock.summ.jpg

Forged_bass_gate_valve_with_lock.summ.jpg

JD_1015_locked_gate_valve.summ.jpg

ae235

this is usually found, close-by [below the heater] [?]

Closing this valve, shuts off water from the heater

BEFORE you do this... ensure that the heating source is CUT OFF
ie: ELECTRIC HEATER > a fuse in the fuseboard...remove it

NEXT, empty the tank by opening all faucets fed by the tank until they run dry
AND leave the faucets open ¬v
_in case the gate-valve is faulty and continues leaking into the heater

bon chance!

I can't seem to find it dave.... I'm going to check under the trailer in the morning. I live in a mobile home and they are compact and built differently than houses. ???? don't ask why... I found the IN pipe to the hot water heater, it comes from under the floorboard which means that it is under the trailer. Now there is insulation under there, and some heat tape. So I must be careful when I climb under there tomorrow morning and look around. It's a tad muddy from the event as well. seems much of the water ended up on the ground under my trailer. I even have a few icicles lol. I looked under there with a flash light but didn't crawl underneath tonight. Didn't find anything but a wet mess. I'll turn off all power for a while tomorrow morning and see if I can find something.

There will probably be a small one at the bottom of the heater
as in the first example ...

brass_ball_valve_lock.summ.jpg

to see it you might need to remove front/ bottom panel on heater

Best of luck

I'm close to a solution. I will not have hot water for a couple months but I will get this under control. turning off the water is a temporary fix.
Getting the hot water heater out of there...
then fixing the floor underneath..
eventually I will buy a new hot water heater. One I can lift. After I endure this I should be able to install it myself. So It won't be another 40 gallon tank but it will be enough to take a hot bath again. :) I pretty much only use hot water for baths and dishes. Most of my cloths are dark and work just fine in a cold water wash.

I know I can't fix my floor because I've already tried doing that once before. I have no carpentry skills. better off to get someone in and let them spend a couple hours on it.

not sure what a front bottom panel is.. there was a panel about 5 inches wide and 9 inches tall. I removed that but it was just wires.???
my heater sits on the floor.

also, I attached a garden hose to the drain valve and turned it but nothing came out. My hot water heater seems to be holding some water???? but the bottom...

tired of me yet???? lol
