A Christmas Prayer

Loving Father, Help us remember the birth of Jesus,
that we may share in the song of the angels,
the gladness of the shepherds,
and worship of the wise men.

Close the door of hate and open the door of love all over the world.
Let kindness come with every gift and good desires with every greeting.
Deliver us from evil by the blessing which Christ brings,
and teach us to be merry with clear hearts.

May the Christmas morning make us happy to be thy children,
and Christmas evening bring us to our beds with grateful thoughts,
forgiving and forgiven, for Jesus' sake. Amen.

Thanks Gail...the Lord has given me a sweet gift in this little dog...I had no idea how lonely I was before she came. I love meeting and talking to those who are drawn to her, she breaks through a lot of walls for me.

Penny will not dress up, except for practical reasons (rain slicker for hurricanes and her pink hoodie for deep snow)

She has been happily playing with the toys santa brought her.
In fact she hasn't stopped,and will be exhausted by the time the grandsons come!
Then again, maybe they will be tuckered out too

I am just taking a break before family arrives in an hour; everything is ready

It is an acknowledged 'fact' ...
that of it being the prerogative and thus
the responsibility of the host and hostess, to be 'in-charge'
of preparation and coordination and 'fussing'n'cooing' and bringing the damp cloth
"No, not to worry! I'll get that stain out, if, I get blisters on my fingertips"
[why oh why didn't I pick it up before they got here ?]

And rejoice! that those hours spent with them, ~is 'a treasure'

My wife and I had to leave our baby dogs at home alone two days in a row. We had family fly into Oklahoma City, and we drove up there and back for two days. We're tired and worn out, and the baby dogs are upset with us. We'll make up for it the next couple of days.

In case anyone is wondering, it's okay to love and care for God's little creatures, especially when they love us so much in return.

By the way, we also had a great Christmas, but we're ready for a rest day.

Here too! Mary, just made chicken casserole
with dumplings, carrots, swede and onions
It's 'nasal romp' came up the corridor [from the kitchen]
a good twenty minutes before serving .....mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmh!!
By the time, I sat down to it, I could even pre-taste it
I wasn't disappointed.... having followed, my-nose!

We took our baby dog with us...it is much easier to care for her at home...my son has a cat and we kept Gracie on a short leash nearly all the time.

We drove home today...a 6 hour stretch...but the traffic was easy to drive though a d home just feels wonderful...really we do enjoy those trips...our son prepared us some killer meatballs to eat on Christmas eve,,,,o yummy, we all raved about them...and he cooked a rib eye roast for Christmas dinner...it also was very yummy...we feasted for sure and with thanksgiving for our blessings.
