  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I just returned from church this evening and am now at my computer seeing what is going on here and looking at photos of my grandson, son and DIL that I took last week when I was visiting them. My heart is filled with joy and peace that only comes from God. I love Him as much as my human heart can love Him. That is nothing compared to how much He loves me. What an awesome God He is.

My Brother was in the Army for 24 yrs and my husband was in the Army Reserves for 24 yrs. I'm proud of them too.

Hi everyone. Can anyone tell me how this new large colored star system works? The other day I had a few of all three colors, but now I'm down to only TWO yellow stars. Was it something I said or...?
Sorry my rep comment got cut short. What happens is as you are repped by people you get points when it gets to a big enough amount you get a star. These are gradually upgraded to gold which I think is a million or at least used to be unter the old systen. You probably just got bumped up to another gold. Check the rep power in the bracket and see if it went up or down. Jan

I made/ prepared this, for Mary and I tonight

P1220806.jpg

It is, a ring of mixed salad, four slices[rolled] Breaded Ham [each]
and a cheese and potato 'pie'

Recipe:

Place TWO huge handfuls of sliced and chopped onions
into a small saucepan, containing, four cupfuls of, cold water
bring to the boil and simmer for 7 or 8 minutes [until real-soft]

P1220791.jpg

While that is 'doing'

Thinly slice, about 6 to 8 ounces of, Mature Cheddar Cheese
Here, I am 'using up' a small portion of coloured cheddar cheese [also]
P1220795.jpg

'Wash' salads, under cold running water and drain

Thinly slice, two tomatoes [per plate]
and spread around the edge of each plate

P1220792.jpg

When onion is soft-enough, add the cheese to the pan

P1220796.jpg

and stir in gently until the lumps disappear

P1220797.jpg

P1220799.jpg

Roll 4 slices of Breaded Ham [per plate]
and place at 15 minute intervals around the plate

P1220801.jpg

add the mashed potato powder to the onions and cheese mix
and stir until mix is evenly distributed
and add it, to the centre of, each plate

P1220804.jpg

all it needs then, is a dash or three
of, one's favourite Salad Cream and someone to consume it

:D

Hello Jim

I would love to, be 'up to date' and so, to be able to give you some insight
as to what is the meaning of the variegations in the STAR SYSTEM
as presently being displayed

LOL.... comparing the amounts displayed for different members
I GUESS [only] that:
The Total Messages 'POSTED' by a member
is displayed there 'graphically' to the right side
Where 'then' light posters may see
absent or, FEW stars on the right side ??

REPUTATION STARS.... appear to the left side and, where each star
represents a percentage of the total, for, that member

As for the middle section..... well the reason for that
will doubtless be made clear to everyone ONE DAY [maybe] :D

Hi Jan,

Some boys get attached to food that Mom used to make
and never aspire to feeding themselves on anything
other than FOOD TO-GO! :)

I used to watch my Mother cooking and baking
thus, I saw [repeatedly] methods-used to ensure
# food hygiene
# preparation of ingredients
# cooking practices / timings
# and presentation

For some, men [dare I say MANY ?]
cooking and washing the pots and pans, is WOMEN'S WORK [?]
and these person's
wouldn't eat properly, without, a devoted spouse :D

There is that saying:
'that, you do not know your limits
unless, you test them' regularly.....

and another:
Variety, is THE SPICE OF LIFE
lol ! it beats boredom, and LACK OF APPETITE

Having, both a cabinet freezer and a chest freezer
We are able to cut down 'larger cuts' of meat, into meal size portions
which can be used for anything up to, 12 months ahead

I used-to cook for a family of eight persons
and it took some adjusting, to reduce amounts to that sufficient
first! for me alone
and now, doubled, to two persons [again]
I am also blessed that Mary's [experience] means, she cooks 'stuff'
that I also, find palatable and enjoyable

I don't use sour cream, as my nose
cannot distinguish between useable and harmful

I guess all my U.S. friends are gearing up for a big JULY 4TH weekend. It was Canada's 141st birthday yesterday. It was pretty imposible to get out and around to do much, as we live on the North Shore connected to the main part of the city by two bridges. There was a jumper on one and it was closed and everything was getting re routed to the second, for 6 hours. Fortunately the distraught woman was talked out of her plan to jump. Anyway this not only makes it impossible to get off the northshore but almost impossible to get anywhere on the north shore as traffic builds up from the freeway and side routes crreating grid lock. My sons eventually made it to the sea bus to go over the inlet as foot passengers but then it was over an hour wait that way so gave us as it would have made them very late for their activity. They had planned to go to a large Christian Gathering downtown about 15000 were expected but I wonder how many actually made it. I stayed home cooked for hubby and Mom in law and relaxed.;)

Yes my sons are rather like that with the fast food stuff. Hubby is a brick when it come to cleaning up that I do so appreciate. He was very able to care for himself as a single and even cooked entire meals for me before we wed. However his repitoire shrunk considerabley once he had a proper cook on board. I actually don't mind cooking I love it really when I have time and appreciative guests. Yesterday I kept it simple; free range chicken wings with a honey garlic sauce and fresh veggies and dip. With fresh rhubarb strawberry crisp and vanilla icecream for dessert. YUM (sorry no pictures)

My husband loves to BBQ so I never do and I think I have forgotten how other then that I do most of the indoor cooking except breakfast which he loves to prepare but only on the week-ends.
We had to cancel our July 4th weekend plans because of my back. I am very disappointed because we were going to meet up with friends and just relax and have a good time.
I hope all of you have a great July 4th no matter where or who your with.
