  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Good morning!
Oh it is cold here this morning. Even a hot cup of coffee doesn't seem to be making me feel warm inside.
I am so glad I don't need to go out today.

My hubby wanted me to say thank you for all you nice comments on his village. It makes him happy to know that others enjoy it.

Well I am off to do a few things around the house this morning. I will try to pop back on later.
Have a Blessed day.
Lynn
It is cold here and frosty but I amsure not as cold as were you are it is - 3 Celcius I think about 25 or 26F but not sure. I have my car warming up so must head off. See ya later. Jan

Ariel,
It sounds like you live in a much for rural area than I do! Do you have any grocery stores nearby? We have to drive about an hour to the nearest one. I would like to ask for any pointers you may have about stocking up. I have the hardest time trying to plan ahead and anticipating what we 'may' need. Thanks! I hope you get your wood burning stove soon! Someday we hope to get one too.

Hi, MommySue. Actually, I live in a city, but we are surrounded by vast areas of empty land. It is possible to drive for hours through stretches of Texas and New Mexico near us and never see a structure.

I know what you mean about stocking up, though. Even though I can run to the grocery store anytime, I try not to need to. So I use grocery lists separated into columns, each column for a different store. In our house, we have a saying, "If it's not on the list, it won't get bought--so get it on the llist!"

The ranchers and farmers around me have the same challenge you have. They come into our area stores with large pickups--and fill them up. "Sam's" is a favorite place.

Thank you for the response Ariel. There is a Sam's club in the nearest city. I usually go to Costco but I have been wanting to try Sam's club. Yes, lists are a must! Thanks for the pointers!

Hello, MommySue--how is your weather?

We had snow flurries this morning, but there's no snow on the ground now. It's just cold...cold...cold...
No storm yet. I keep hoping! There are still lots of dark clouds so maybe we will get something yet! I hope you are able to stay warm!

I respect your opinion of the cause of the storms dave - but whether these are due to man made causes is up for heavy debate.
Quite true Jan - those environmentalists have caused wayyy more problems, than they are worth.

Their agenda (based on assumptive errors) is additionally about animal-Preservation, at the expense of Human-life. Ignoring the Bible, they want to legislate Humanity into ruin. - Aligned with satan's camp, they have managed... driving *entire rural Christian-communities* to the brink of extinction. :( How do I know? - Our previous home was right in the middle of their governmental mess.

I think it is ok to burn small amounts of garden clippings but I know in the city here it is banned. It is still allowed in some more rural areas though.
Open-burning is also banned in "rural"- areas, whenever the Fire-danger is up; which isn't the case so much during winter.

We had a Wood-burning stove, and a perennial-supply of ready-made wood, on our 5-acres. But then, the Garden-shed wasn't large enough, to hold one-winter's supply, to keep all of it from rotting & dry - enough.

There is no doubt that we can all be more responsible with how we steward the earths resources..
The fact of the matter is: our *Heaven-blessed :angel: Earth-home* has existed for billions of years;
repeatedly cycling thru ICE-ages, & BURN-ing phases; and all of these before
God ever caused humanity to be created. So yes, these things happen, but evidently humans can not be the cause.
The causes are SUN-flares, & moon-phases, & meteors, and other "outer"-space actions.

Christians already are depressing themselves & each other in that miserable habit of "guilting, blaming & shaming", enough to make GOD gag. - Were they to Educate themselves about FACTs, they would be able to *in the LORD find Love, Peace, JOY & Rest :)*.

It does make sense to burn banning in summer hot temperatures or other extremely "dry" time I think but I just don't get the other as being that big a deal. There are lots of good internet sites and resources that give a balance to the global warming issue if anyone is interested but I don't want to derail the thread here. It bothers me all the rhetoric I here in my local high school. Just bad science but no one speaks up. Peace Jan

Clear and sunny still here. I love it but it is cold. (For us that is). Jan
Hi Jan
Would you believe that today, with the Temp in the teens -Bbrrr, on the way to *Skating-practice...*,
I managed to lock myself (out  Bbrrr!!!) of the truck, w/ 2-extra keys inside ^_^

And tonight, I need to go to "work" :sigh: - wanna ask Jesus for *extra* :angel:protection  Thanks! Annie

Hello everyone.
Hubby has been on vacation so we have been doing some little jobs around the house. This weekend I hope to get to all the things that need to be recycled. Just way too many little jobs to do and it never seems that we have the time to do them.

Looks like we might get a little of the white stuff tonight. That's ok it's the weekend coming up so I really don't have plans.

I hope that you are all well today.

I'll try to stop back later.
Have a great day.

Hello Lynn!

It sounds like you and your husband do the same thing my husband and I do--pitch in together on some of those tasks when he has a chance. As my dear one points out, making a task a social occasion makes it so much easier.

We had some of that white stuff on the ground in the early AM yesterday, but only in our part of the city--and it disappeared later that morning. Meanwhile, my pond is frozen on top with a hole near the waterfall, and my fish are hovering near the bottom feeling sorry for themselves...poor things.

We had a large, satisfying fire in our fireplace the other night. We are experimenting with controlling how far the flue opens. In my search and research, someone suggested this--and it helps! :) Of course, I still envy Ley her lovely stove.

Maybe we will get through that cord of wood we cut and stacked last summer. We have 17 trees on our property, seven of them over 20 feet tall.

I have located a wood burning stove that could heat the WHOLE HOUSE, if I can move the air around. The problem is the price tag--$3,000. So, this is not going to happen anytime soon....

Dave, I appreciate your concern. Yes, we need to each do our bit to counter air pollution. Still, it is difficult in this wide, expansive area I live in to not want to have a fire in my fireplace on cold days, at least for a little while. In fact, our city is more concerned about dumping our garden detritus in the landfill than they are about having homes warmed by fireplaces.

What is interesting to me in my search is the number of people who say they don't rely on their central heat at all, but rather a woodburning stove, as Ley has. This is remarkable, I feel.

If you can imagine a place in the world where you can drive for hours and see almost no buildings or structures, then you can understand the minimal concern for pollution in my area. Not that we don't do our part with recycling and energy conservation. We do. Nor are we particularly messy. But air pollution is not a concern here, unless you count the high winds which travel across this land in the spring and carry dust from as much as 200 miles away.

I cannot deny the possibility
that SOURCES that are, now,
blaming the GUTS of cattle and other livestock
for, being the LARGEST CONTRIBUTOR, to the MAJOR CAUSE
of, 'greenhouse gas production' [METHANE]
May, simply, be propaganda distributors
'hired'
to allay fears that 'otherwise' might COST industries dearly

It could be,
that soya and rapeseed oil producers are seeking to lead,
the 'over the counter sales' with alternative PRODUCTS

Let us, however, keep open minds here
recalling
WHEN, smogs were caused in our cities
by the burning of, fossil fuels in EVERY FIREPLACE
and in MAJOR CITIES by ROAD TRAFFIC
Reduced,
in recent decades by ALL-ELECTRIC / GAS FUELED heating
and more-advanced engines and transmission sytems in cars
With MORE TRAFFIC on our roads this reduction
has today MUCH LESS of a remedial impact
and the 'fight' is again being LOST

There is MORE 'Air Traffic' than ever before in history
More Shipping, and these engines use the heaviest of, all the Fuel Oils

Here, is a little 'NEWS'

Clean Air, does not allow 'precipitation' [rain]to take place [?]

Dirty Air.... alt. Pollution Particles are required
for moist air, to condense upon..
forming raindrops [?]

For, moist air to rise... high enough to become COLD/ ice-crystals
the air must be warmed... [?]

Pollution in the air... carbons, gases and metals
become the reasons moist air is warmed by the sun
and why
this heating is reflected back down upon the pollution raising temp's higher within polluted clouds
ie: raising MORE WATER much higher

More Rainfall...
Sulphur output into the atmosphere
mostly from America and also the newly industrialised countries in Asia & the Far East is increasing
Sulphur is a metal...
capable of remaining high in the ionosphere for hundreds of years
reflecting away the Sun's heat and possibly, leading to a new ice age
Methane, too, can reflect heat coming from the Earth
raising temperatures [global-warming]
turning the planet into a waterworld

Now, I, am not this world's authority on this sort of stuff
but, from what I have read...
It IS, carbon fuels, that are the prime catalysts
to current weather patterns

Carbonic Acid........ is, a naturally occuring chemical
in our atmosphere
and, it doesn't take a genius, to work out
HOW MUCH LESS there would be of, it....
could mankind... not, put HIS SHARE, up there [?]

Why are there so many cattle on this planet [?]

answer: to provide food, for it's population

The reason; that there are SO MANY PEOPLE on this planet
is, because of a GLUT of food supply
WHY [?]
because food producers are producing so-much
Indeed, they are getting very rich...
whilst other countries have Famine, because of,
the absence of, rainfall, or, too much
where topsoils have eroded and been washed away to the seas
this, displaces water in the oceans, raising mean sea levels
retreating polar caps, glaciers and sea ice, also, raises sea levels
to flood, low-lying land

Yes, deep debate is, being mentioned
but the POWER to do anything AT-ALL
lies, in the hands AND PURSES
of, the Magnates, Barons, Oligarchies and Monarchies

'what changes' ?
Has it not always been so ?

They, send their populations to war
they, enslave their peoples to their will
Would, that these people should become Christians
our world... would not be in such peril

anyway.... these are just thoughts
on the information that 'anyone' can obtain/ collate, readily

Ariel, do you name your trees? I don't mean by their given 'botanical' names, but names that you can call them in a sort of greeting? I know that sounds a bit childish, but I think if I ever had so many trees on my property, that I would name them and greet them everyday. I guess not too much unlike a child speaking to roses. Kind of a nice thought, don't you agree?
:)

OOOOOOOOOOOOOh I love trees

I could live in a forest and not...MISS the city at all
oh, maybe just a little....
y'know ? 'friends and family' live there [?]

I don't think I would ever join one of those HUG-A-TREE groups
But, I do love to observe nature [in plants, birds and animals]

I love 'gardening' and do, still, 'potter' here

The 'GREEN LUNG' that Ariel mentions, is truly a marvelous tactic of-nature
capturing as it does, carbons in our atmosphere
Who-else, but, our Lord could think that up ?

But, acid-rain, continues to kill-off swathes of, forestry
particularly, Pines

Extinctions in the plant and animal world
may have been brought about... BECAUSE
their food chains have been destroyed/ altered

In terms of, predator versus prey [?]
when the prey disappears then the predator is also threatened
ie: a chain-reaction in the food chain

note: decreasing Fish Stocks in the oceans
> now threatens to remove fish, from OUR DIET

and so the COOKIE, now crumbles

Am just reflecting-on, the possibility of real-problems
The TRUTH of-which requires acknowledgement

Aye, I also love the tress and the country. Due my own and my wife's health we had to sell our little place in the country in favor of avery nice place in town. Now we have only two pine trees in small back yard. I hadn't thought about givng them names. I'll probably discuss that with my 7 year old gradndaughter. I know she'd love to help me pick out good names for them.

Look out for raining space debris! :)

Claire, I never though of naming our trees. But I do admit that I pray for them. For some reason this part of the world is not friendly to trees. About six days a year we have high winds. About twice a year we have hailstorms that can strip every leaf.

I've taken to praying when the weather is awful, and not just for my trees. But I do love my garden and hope to keep growing things always.
