Only my hubby has a spring birthday, the rest of us are either dead of winter or mid summer. Congrats to your daughter Jim on her special day. I know a good source of Teddy Bears and chocolate if she is interested. lol
Yes Ariel I agree with you I have had farmers in my immediate family for years and I don't know how they do it. It must be very discouraging at times. Hopefully it will not last too long or be too deep a frost. I get upset when the hail here beats down the new spring flowers.

It's a lovely day in the neighbourhood, Won't you be my neighbour? Borrowed from Mr. Roger's Neigbourhood, if you remember him.

Lovely here in Eastern Ontario. Coolish, but no snow, Maple syrup is running nicely and loads of birds chirping about. I haven't seen any Black Bears yet, but I suspect they are out and about too.

Cheers,

Jim

Well I really hate to keep sounding like a broken record here but they just announced another winter storm coming our way. Probably will have about two in. of snow coming tomorrow. Coldest spring since 1982!! Should be in the 50's but been in the 20's at night and 30's day. Mind you I'm not complaining???? just letting you know that spring is not here yet!!
Also do any of you remember about the lady I told you all about that her house had burned down and they couldn't find any trace of her?? Well they just announced that they found bones of two ladies, one in a barrel and one in a wooden box. The one set is of that lady. It was a burglary gone bad. He hit her and killed her and then set house on fire. Then he went about two miles away and did the same thing to the other lady. Bad thing is he had been in jail for house burglaries some years back, served his time and released. So thank you all for your prayers, she really did need them. So sad she was a grandma too.
Bless

Bonnie, I am so sorry to hear that you have still another storm on the way. I know this must be hard--the promise of spring, and then not.

That was a terrible thing that man did. I've come to a point where I just don't answer doors anymore unless I know who it is, and even then I'm careful. Nothing says you have to answer a door, or a phone. It's not that I'm afraid, I'm not, but I've decided to be more careful for my safety than I used to be.

Ironically, the one time a man tried to break into our house, the Lord woke me up, showed me that this man was coming, showed me where he was going to try to break in, and when he actually tried to do that I was already up. I switched on a light which spooked him. Then he called me up a couple of days later to let me know that he would never harm me. Right. The reaon he would never harm me was because the Lord was protecting me.

I've sometimes thought about that incident. When the Lord woke me up, He showed me angels around my house. Did you know that we have angels around us?

Psalm 34:7 The angel of the Lord encamps all around those who fear Him, and delivers them.

Bonnie, there are big angels all around you!

Ariel,
Oh yes I know there are angels around me and my family, every place we go all the time. "Near misses" are not that they are the times the angels took the incident and protected us. Oh yes dear sister I most certainly do believe in angels.
Twenty years ago we lived in Florida and worked for a rescue mission. We lived on Biscayne Blvd. which was not to bad but bad enough.
My husband had gone out of town and my daughter and myself were home alone in a very large one story home.
My daughter was in here room and I in mine and we also owned a large dog. Our home did not have central air but air conditioners in our rooms(made noise).
That night we went to bed as usual and all of a sudden I woke up like a shot, with my dog pulling the sheets off the bed and acting frantic. We had put hook and eye locks on the outside of our bedroom doors so the dog couldn't open the door during the day and let the cool air out. When I woke up I thought the dog needed to go out side so I jumped out of bed and tried to open the door and it was locked from the other side!! I started shaking!!Finally I yanked it open, and the house was pitch black(usually leave nite lights on)all lights were out. As my eyes got adjusted to the dark I could see my house was upside down and had been broken into Got to the phone and called the police. I was shaking so much I couldn't even remember our address, the police told me it and my name, while on the phone I could here them come. The lights were restored(?) and the police came in and went into my daughters room because she was still asleep and didn't know if they were in there. She was awoke with a huge German Shepard dog looking in her face(police)
The house was broken into to and they took many things, nothing returned!! This happened at 3:10AM and the police were there until 6:00. The house across the street has been broken into also and the man tried to stop them and he ended up in the hospital.
The angels were there that night by the door being locked, the air conditioners running, and the dog not barking, all protecting me and my daughter, and not confronting these people.
For years I would wake up at that time and be afraid, until someone told me and made me understand how protected I was because of God and His angels.
Yes indeed I do believe in God and His Angels
Bonnie
(Sorry this got so long)

That is an amazing story Bonnie. I do know that God protects us but I don't have a vivid example of it like you do.
Jim I remember Mr. Rogers very fondly. He is one reason I relented and let my family have cable TV for awhile because you could only get his show on PBS. My son now 30 loved Mr. Rogers. He was an ex minister wasn't he?
Sorry to hear about all the continuing winter weather. We are also colder than usual here on the coast and it looks like rain is coming tonight. Jan

He really nailed it. As a young 20 something without kids I totally did not get it. I thought what a boring show. However, as I had my own children I realized he talked to the children and went slow enough for them to process the information. He wasn't a clown he was a friend. My kids also loved The Friendly Giant and Bob ? also ran the program in a slow relaxed way that kids understood. Fred Rogers was a great guy. Both were quite revolutionary in their approach to the established norms of the day. Jan

How I loved Mr. Rogers! His songs and messages touched my children's hearts, and mine as well. Do you remember the song "It's you I like"?

Bonnie, yes, I believe that God was protecting you! Praise God for His faithfulness to keep you from being woken up. You and your daughter were both protected.

Here is another protection story, definitely an act of God. I was out walking one day with my two-year-old son strapped into a little umbrella stroller, and very pregnant with my last child. Suddenly as I approached a street corner, a dog came at me from the far corner, barking and threatening. It was a mid-sized dog, it looked like a black lab mix, and not friendly. I stood in front of the stroller and braced myself for an attack, resolving that whatever happened I would not let my two-year-old be hurt. Suddenly out of nowhere there came a huge, gorgeous pure white German shepherd. He took one look at the yapping dog that was still coming at me. The lab reacted, suddenly retreating. He didn't want to mess with the larger dog!

I am familiar with German shepherds, but I had never seen a dog with a coat like his--pure white, glistening white. Yet he was definitely a shepherd. I instantly fell in love with that dog, because he took one look at me, and then continued to walk next to the stroller, as if guarding my little boy. We turned the corner and went a few more steps. As we passed the alley, he turned in there. I went three more steps, then stopped. I wanted to look at that amazing dog again. I followed him into the alley. He wasn't there. He had simply disappeared. The fences in Texas are six or so feet high. I didn't think he could have jumped the fence. He was just gone.

Now, I don't think angels can appear as dogs...but I knew that day that God had protected me, my unborn baby, and my little two-year-old.

Yeah, I didn't plan it, but it seems I started my birthday yesterday in Australia and now have swung around the world and celebrated for TWO WHOLE DAYS!!!!  But today, Saturday, April 7th is my ACTUAL birthday, so I can't stop celebrating now, right?

Hey Jim--let's do that when your birthday comes up! Celebate for two whole days! Whoo Hooo!
Hey Ariel :)

Jojo & Bonnie gave me a birthday-party - last Nov  and
I loved it so much, that I read :), posted :D & cherished :p it for over an entire-week

Bonnie took me to task "Birthday parties are for one-day, Annie" - and
so I was called 'weird, crazy & not to be trusted'. (some public, some in PM's)
The LORD, Sweetie & I just smiled :)
(in this world, where abortions, armed-robbery & euthanasia are  sought after, AND prayed :prayer: for -
as 'normal') -
I think it an honor... being called *crazy* - if you know :) what I mean. I am of this world, *not*

I didn't skip a Beat - I went right on, *enjoying........ this Birthday*; in fact,
I think of EVERY-day, as my Birth(ed)-day
-
which when you think of it, half a sec, it really is, right? ;)

*ENJOY yourself today, dear  Ariel do* ~ Annie

Aw, thank you, Annie. I have been enjoying this day--and every day this week. Yes, there is nothing wrong with celebrating a birthday, and especially with celebrating life.

Like you, I had a brush with death. I almost died in surgery 18 years ago. In fact, I believe I did die, for I saw the Lord. But today I'm alive and well and enjoying the Lord, my dear husband, my family and my dear Christian friends. You are one of these dear friends.

Yes, let's celebrate together! God is so good, and He has given us so much!

Apparently JESUS decided, your *LOVE-asignment, on  earth* is not yet Finie//

In fact, I can think of at least one other person, HE may want you to Bless  in ways

But today I'm alive and well and enjoying the Lord, my dear husband, my family and my dear Christian friends. You are one of these dear friends.

My sons got to meet Mr. Dressup years ago when he came to visit Children's Hospital. My disabled son was having surgery so it was his older brother who was around 5 or 6 who was really thrilled even though it was a pretty brief visit. (I wasn't too impressed cause he smelled of cigarette smoke). I didn't even think that the younger one paid much attention as he had had fairly major surgery and was pretty sleepy. However about a year later we were entertaining the parents of our friend's fiancee from Ontairo in our home and the disabled son ran to and enthusiastically greeted the dad as Mr. DressUp. We all had a good chuckle as my son then mentioned that he had visited him in hospital. It was uncanny how much this man also called Ernie really looked like the Mr. Dressup Ernie Coombs.

Ariel,
I made that remark in jest!! Because she did love celebrating her bday so much. I also never said those other things!! Really getting sick of Annie trying to make us all look bad and saying things we never said. It's your day have fun, goodness my Dad celebrated his last bday for a month, good thing he passed away shortly thereafter..
