Yes, that's it. We had it off of her for a few minutes trying to give her medicine, and we found out the reason for the collar almost immediately. She went straight to the stitches. We're having a hard time getting her medicine down her, and we're trying everything. She spits it out regardless of what we try to hide it in (canned meat, peanut butter, etc.). We'll have to keep trying tonight or get some help from the vet.

Penny was tough too....we had to put it down her throat!

Here is some doggy psychology that will cure that problem

IN THE WILD... parents go hunting [?]
and when they return
they 'regurgitate' food for their pups [?]

Dogs will eat ANYTHING that comes from your mouth

So, allow her to observe your eating [say, 'meatballs']
Having prepared one especially for her
place it in your mouth, and spit it out so she can 'WIN' it
You will never see medicine go-down quite as sweetly

I KNOW.... it isn't the 'done thing' ...
but you won't deny that the results, are the achievement you need to achieve

Try 'spitting-out' a bit of bacon at breakfast
and TEST my suggestion

Is it a pill? If you place it far back enough on her tongue, like on the tonsils, she won't have a choice. I became an expert when Juliette was sick. Aside from insulin injections, blood tests and 3 different pills round the clock, I had to force feed her in the end. You need to open her mouth wide (with both hands) and have someone else drop it down the hole, unless you're really dexterious, lol. She may need to drink water afterwards. Poor little pup, I'm still praying.

Hi All,

Bedtime here now, so this will be brief.

That was interesting about the pills and dogs. Does it work with cats too? Not that we have a cat but I've read about them and their pills lol. Our dog is becoming arthritic and the vet prescribed tablets that the dog has no problem with.

Busy day today - had to collect our daughter from Newcastle, County Down and bring her home for the weekend this afternoon and pick hubby up from the airport in Belfast this evening after he was in Dublin for a couple of days.

Thanks for the suggestions in getting Lucy to swallow pills. We have success with one and we're going to try the second one in a little bit. She has two pills per day that she's supposed to take. We got it down her with premium canned dog food.

I was afraid I'd nod off at Church too last night; I was up at 6 AM but I did ok
Today I slept until 11 am the new time, even though I went to bed early
It always takes me a couple days to adjust, but I LOVE the longer days
