Yeah it was; my childhood ended at age 8 when he became ill with Hodgekins Lyphosarcoma (He was just 33).
My mother was a proud, dependent soul who used me as an adult, because she didn't want others in the house.
I did things with his care that some adults have never done (and kids should never do); but I loved him dearly!
It has my hospice care of him at home that led me into nursing and later a Hospice/ Visiting Nurse
sorry you had to lose your father at such a young age and grow up...... My family has lost people young but it was always from recless living... I can't think of someone who got sick and died... soooo sad.
Hugs for you both...I am glad you are a nurse Gail...that was a good result from your dad's death so early...you could have been very traumatized at seeing him and doing sensitive personal care for him so young...maybe you were in some ways...O Lord, if more healing is needed let it come to Gail gently, with light and love.
Birdie I pray you will get those warm fuzzies you need, that we all need in unexpected ways straight from His hand, knitting your heart to His heart, knowing Him as a heavenly Father. Big Huggggs for you girl.

At that time they were JUST starting in cancer research and he was a guinea pig for testing and treatments.
They gave him a year, but he pushed through 5 years....with the grace of God!
In my nursing, I was very blessed to see others with up to 20 year + lifespans, so his suffering was not in vain
I was blessed through it all, and emerged strong in faith, heart, and character
He was quite an inspiration, considering how much he QUIETLY suffered!
We were very close.... and very much alike; I just pray I can honor him in some small way with my life!

He was so young to have to face death and you were so young to have to lose him. I am glad you were able to give it meaning for him though (and for yourself).. Yes, medicine has come a long way..

Ironically my lifetime of healing was NOT re: my Father's care, but re: being left with my mother, who was a very needy and controlling person.
Through the grace and mercy of God, even that healing came about fully just before she died suddenly.
All is well when we can embrace the Lord's will and providence for us; even in the tragedies and trials we are given sufficient light and grace if he have the eyes of faith to see.

Thanks... but I didn't mean to imply (if I did) that the losses of our young effected me in a big way... My mothers death has affected me and the loss of a boyfriend when I was in my late 20's (I've long since healed from that) but nothing more that that has any kind of lasting affect. Lol... be glad I didn't write you a list of all of them.. I almost outlined it for you but deleted it because it got too long.lol

I'm sorry Birdie...I did not experience losses until I was 40...then the relatives started dropping off like flies...
Did have the boyfriend of a close girl friend commit suicide at a very young age...that did bother me...I think it is the issue of suicide itself, very hard to process...as you know.

That sounds like a good, positive approachNice prayer...nothing in my past really bothers me... I grew up thinking things were just as they should be and normal. but thinking about it (and my family) in depth is a little on the disturbing side. so I really do try not to. People keep trying to dig it back up for me.(some have recently).. they think they are helping I guess... I just try to be happy... There is enough to be grateful for now and enough to keep me busy now that I shouldn't have to look to memories. good night... I'm sleepy thanks for offering your ear
